“Great value, lovely hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 January 2014

This was a lovely hotel with a wonderful restaurant. The staff was warm and friendly. The room was well appointed and very clean, and there was even an elevator. Parking was free, and breakfast was very nice. Staying here was a great experience.

We had trouble finding the hotel as my iPhone gave the wrong directions.

We stayed for 2 weeks at the end of July 2013. The staff were very friendly and the little touches had been considered, for example a treat on arrival in the room for our dog Felix who was staying. There is plenty to do in the local area and the staff are very helpful, providing details for a local vet should we need one and places to go. There is plenty of parking. The lake is a gentle 45 minute walk from the hotel through well paved woods, but you can also drive and park in some places for free, just get there early! The food was very good and very reasonably priced. I would definately recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a quiet place to stay. The rooms are nice and clean and the shower had good pressure to it with a deep bath for relaxing after mountain hikes.

Room Tip: In the restaurant try the salmon pasta as well as some of the regional foods.

You can not argue with the value of this hotel/bar. Both the food and the room were very competitively priced, and the assistance in the hotel has done with a smiles. The main focus of the staff are to serve the bar/restaurant patrons in the evening, which resulted in taking a long time to get served and then not allowed certain foods as the kitchen was to close. The service was also a little abrupt at this time.

We stayed in a superior room, which was good value and large, and there were lovely design feature of the old building. HOWEVER I would have paid more just to have more shower gel/shampoo in the shower (a tidy one for 2 people per day?) and there was no soap at all in our separate loo. We were also missing a safe. The location is a bit of a drive from Lake Constance - and then you have to park when you get there - but again, the price would rocket if it were closer. It was hot when we were there, and without aircon the rooms were stifling, opened windows meant a little traffic noise, and on the first floor, I imagine the mosquito would be an issue.

Overall a good hotel and good amenities just

Stayed at this hotel for 1 night in August 2011. When we arrived around 6pm, the staff were madly rushing about serving guests in the restaurant - we didn't initially have trouble checking in as someone quickly noticed our luggage but afterwards it was quite difficult to get assistance as the desk remained mostly unattended despite ringing the bell. We went up the stairs to the room (no lift) but found there was no air conditioner or fan and when we asked, they said they were all out of them, so suggested another room at the back where it would be less noisy in the evenings so that we could keep our windows open. Thankfully it wasn't too hot that night and we were able to get some sleep, but in the event of a really hot night, a fan becomes a bare necessity, otherwise the room gets quite hot. Furniture bit old as was the bathroom as well.

The facility has a free swimming pool but to get there is rather complicated - it is across the road in another house and as all staff were busy, no one could take us there. Luckily a kine resident in the other house let us in and showed us the pool through a number of small narrow corridors, which would've been complicated to find on our own. We were told 3 different closing times for the pool so in the end weren't sure what time it actually closed, but we managed a quick 30 minute swim which was nice. Internet was free and worked well. Parking was also free too.

We didn't end up eating there as they told us they were understaffed, so ate elsewhere, however the food did look good. Overall stay was ok but for the cost (73 euros) next time we might try and explore other nearby options as well.
