Visited the Anastasia for 1 week on the 16th Oct and was welcomed after 9pm with a meal that had been saved for us. This was a lovely touch that was totally unexpected (other hotels have never done this for us previously). Our luggage was taken to our room for us which was spotless with comfortable beds, air con(free), fridge(free), safe (10 euros) and free TV with BBC world news and channel 3 had an English film or similar most nights. You can catch English TV in the upstairs reception room if you don't want to miss Emmerdale and Corrie! It is really pleasant around the pool (clean sunbeds - you can hire cushions/towels for more comfort if required) alongside the outside bar where drinks and snacks are available all day with 2 happy hours(hour and a half to be accurate!) thrown in. We walked into Stalis most days where there is a beach with watersports if required. There are many bars/restaurants down there but we did not feel the need to eat anywhere else as the food in the hotel was varied and tasty. Children are entertained if required during part of the day and there is family entertainment each night such as the magic/quick change show, karaoke, quiz etc. We have visited many places in Cyprus, Spain, Majorca, Menorca and can honestly say that you could not wish to meet a finer, more pleasant set of staff than the people at the Anastasia. We intend to visit again next year - maybe earlier than Oct (although it was 28 degrees on the day we left!!). Paul & Jacqui from Yorkshire.

Room Tip: It is a little hilly with steps - ask for an easy accessible room if you have trouble walking

Having just returned from staying at the Anastasia, I cannot recommend this Hotel highly enough.

A previous reviewer refused to give more than a rating of 3, because it was a 3 Star establishment. If that was the criteria for rating hotels, then only 5 star would get 5, but as my wife and I have experienced, the 5 star hotels are not always at the level they should be.

The Hotel is a number of apartment blocks, with three pools, a pool bar, restaurant and a lobby bar. The rooms are basic, but are spotless and cleaned every day, fresh towels every other day and a linen change once a week. I can't recall having previously stayed in 3 star accommodation which done this.

The staff are very friendly, as is the owner\manager Michael. The service was excellent from the moment we arrived until we left. Staff went out of their way to be helpful right from the late arrival, where we were offered food, right to the end when Michael gifted two cans of Irn Bru. He had remembered our arrival, where we had gone to the bar and had taken our own for my wife's drink. Michael advised that they sold it, but did not prevent us from using it. You are expected to purchase your drinks at the bar when using the pool etc, which I feel is a fair request when using the facilities and having free entertainment provided. The bar prices are a little on the high side, but are as expected at most hotels.

The food was consistently of a high standard, with good variation for a 3 star half board accommodation. Breakfast had it's stable offerings, of cereals, hot breakfast or continental breakfast, but each day was varied by a change of some kind. Dinner was the same, with salads, soup and a selection of hot food on offer. Every meal had fresh fruit available if you wanted it, something I have not experienced in some 5 star accommodation. There were offerings of traditional Greek food, as well as other international dishes, which have become a staple of the UK diet. Chips were available every evening for those who wanted them. There was no repetition of any of the dishes throughout the week; the Gyros, Kleftico, Stifado and Souvlaki were all good. There was also a BBQ on the Sunday evening.

Lunch can be purchased at the bar, and a good selection is available.

The hotel is due to close next week, but throughout our stay there was a full buffet service offered, there was no reduction in the selection of meals available, which I have failed to see at other establishments when coming to the end of the season, often reducing it to a choice of salad or hot meal.

We are hoping to return next year, but will go slightly earlier in the month as most of the bars\restaurants etc. in town were closed or closed whilst we were there. It doesn't matter how good a place is, you still need to have a change of scenery, but need somewhere for refreshment when you go out.

Only one complaint: The TV at the Pool bar needs to be replaced, it is an ancient old CRT setup with a weak blue gun, which makes it difficult to see team colours correctly for the football. Please take note for next year Michael. :-)

I would agree with you regarding the Big Screen Pool Bar TV :) Just to let you know that a new TV is already ordered in order to watch the World Cup in High definition.

We look forward to welcoming you back to our Hotel next Summer.

We made our second visit to the Anastasia in October 2013, having first visited in 2011. We made all our arrangements directly with the hotel. The question that many are asking is "does it live up to all the reviews". You have to bear in mind that this is a three star hotel, and it charges three star prices, set your sights accordingly. We paid around 31 GBP per night for 2 people half board - this is fantastic value for what we received - the room, food, entertainment, etc.

Rooms
We were lucky to receive a room upgrade, our room was of a good size with a sea view and had all we needed. It appeared to have been redecorated fairly recently. The fridge and air conditioning will be especially useful during the summer.

Food
Breakfast offers a good choice and many will be pleased to see English sausages available. Some nice Greek options too, try the Greek yogurt and honey which is delightful. Choice varies each day although there is only so much that you can do to vary the options given the large choice offered. There are lots of hot drink options too.

In the evening, the selection changes each day. The menu is posted in reception each afternoon. Lots of choice - meats, fish, vegetarian options and well as childrens choices. Everyone should be able to find something to enjoy and the sweets are great too! Wine is available - 9.50 Euros for a bottle which we thought was fair value. The BBQ on Sunday was the highlight for us - lots of different meats available with other options too.

To give ourselves some variety we went into Stalis one evening for a meal. We went to Camelot and had a great three course meal - 26 Euros including wine. For those on a tight budget, eating in the hotel each day should be no problem.

Bar:
Comment has been made about the bar prices. Given what is provided, particularly the evening entertainment, we felt the prices were fair. The owner does have to make money somehow! If you are looking for a deal, there are two Happy Hours each day - 11.00 - 12.30 and 16.00 - 17.30. There are a range of offers but we paid 3.50 Euros for a large beer and wine. There is a lunch menu offering a range of options, all fairly priced. There is free wi-fi in the bar area too which if you are lucky extends to the pool area and restaurant too.

Entertainment:
There are three live professional shows each week - the Dancing Girls, Mystic Men and Quick Change show (which we did not see). These are provided free of charge and whilst not quite Las Vegas standard they are a cut above what we have seen in most three star hotels.

Staff:
As has been said by many others, all the staff are excellent - they all work really hard and are so friendly to the guests. We noted that virtually all the staff were the same from our 2011 visit so we take this as a sign of a well-run hotel.

Pool area:
Plenty of sun beds whilst we were there, no early morning rush for a sun bed. There is a small quiet pool too although the main one was hardly rowdy!

Weather
Not within the control of the owner (!) but worth mentionning - the temperature in early October was around 25 degrees plus and hotter on some days. We barely saw a cloud all week.

Overall:
We feel that for the price paid, this is a great hotel. Michael the owner is on hand from breakfast through to the evening and clearly runs a tight ship. They seem to cater for all situations, an example of which is the opportunity to hire towels for 2 euros each which saves luggage space. The hotel seemed really busy and we felt that this spoke volumes given that it is near to the end of the season. Most of the guests are British and there are lots of repeat visitors so many clearly feel it offers what they want from a hotel and holiday.

Finally, local buses - these stop about 400m from the hotel. We took to the bus at the airport - 3.85 euros each - it takes about 45 minutes and also had a nice day by bus to Agios Nikolaos which we felt was well worth a visit - 3.70 Euros each way on the bus.

Michael the owner/manager is to be praised for what he has achieved here ,and around him are possibly the best staff you could ever meet .
For what you pay you will receive a great package holiday .
Everybody has a different aspect of what they hope to find on foreign holidays .
For me , the hotel is merely a base from which I can explore the area.
I visited hersonisos ,the island of Spinalonga and Krassi in the mountains .
I therefore did not use all the facilities at my disposal in the hotel .
However I do feel qualified to say that with dining being an important part of my package , ALL the catering staff , especially Vana and Maria complement a first rate service with a few laughs thrown in . ( No extra charge ) .
However , do please be aware that part of the hotel is built on a slope and can involve steps or ramps , so this may not suit the less mobile .
Also , by Michael,s admission this is a three *** hotel , so you may find the furniture a bit dated .
In my case I found sleeping a problem on spring-interiors .
So in fairness , I don,t compare with what I get at four **** this or five ***** that ,but it is my opinion that Anastasia is quite possibly the best three *** ever .
Would I stay here again ? Never say never .

Room Tip: I would request a standard room in the main block if mobility is a problem .
