“such an amazing hotel”
Reviewed 12 February 2013

Cannot believe I am reading anyyyyyyy bad reviews at all!

me and 12 other females came to stay in this hotel in july..

Upon arrival we were terrified of what it would be like as getting dropped outside it doesn't look all that..

Once we was in we was greeted by the hotel owner pedross and quickly checked in and shown to our rooms. Yes the rooms were basic but had everything we needed.

Everyone as so so friendly, the bar, pool and hot tub was brilliant. Never a fight for sun loungers and everyone is so friendly.

Short distance from supermarkets, bars, restaurants, and a short taxi ride to malia.

Couldn't have had a better stay! Back this year I go 1000 percent!

Recommend to anyone and everyone! No matter what holiday you wish for.. Pedross will cater to your needs!

Stayed here with two friends, upon arrival first impression was generally okay - basic but what we'd been expecting. This was rapidly to change, as we bumped into the large and extremely rowdy bunch of Barnsley lads who were staying there solely to travel to Malia every night on quad bikes. They constantly harassed us - being a group of three young girls, and tried to get us to go to Malia with them despite the fact we weren't interested in that type of holiday in the slightest. They also made a habit of coming back at 6am, being extrememly loud - and on one occasion tried to go into the wrong apartments, scaring the older couples that were staying in them.

On top of this, we hired the air con - Greece was in the middle of a heat wave when we stayed, 40C +! Yet we had unending problems with the unit., After complaining several times, and being given several new remotes to try we were informed that in order for the air con to work we had to leave all the doors closed due to the fact it automatically switched off when one was opened. So in effect, everytime we left the apartment to go anywhere the air con switched off and we came back to a roasting apartment. I don't know if this was just an issue with ours - but surely that's a ridiculous system if not.

I have read several times here about how wonderful the cleaners at Alexandra are, but I can honestly say we had no experience of that. Even after they'd been the floors were dirty. Wet towels weren't changed on a daily basis by anymeans and perhaps worst of all, our apartment seemed to be a through road for ants, which inhabited the main living area, the bedroom which is where I slept - several times I found them in my bed - and also in the kitchen area, crawling all over the worksurfaces, in the crockery and we even found a few in the fridge, which never kept anything cold anyway.

Crossing the main road was like dicing with death.

On the positive side, it was only a short walk to the supermarket. Food at the apartments seemed resonably priced and was very nice the one time we tried it. The travel agency rep when we first arrived was useless, and the other rep we encountered seemed more focussed on hitting on any girl he thought would be 'up for it'. The replacement later in the week was much more helpful and organised a wonderful jeep trip for us. The main beach strip with bars and restaurants was a five/ten minute walk and there is plenty of choice. Restaurant Creta was wonderful - we ate there twice. Maria's Golden Beach was nice too. The gem of the whole trip for us was the discovery of Yamas Bar, on the path down to the main strip from Alexandra Apts. Manos was lovely and friendly, and we stoppped by every evening for the wide ranging cocktail list and the freebies such as melon and biscuits, everything was priced well too!

The main thing I have noticed from these reviews is complaints about loud groups of younger people using the apartments as a stopover from Malia, but I would just like to point out that not every young person goes there for the proximity to the clubbing culture. Being a younger group ourselves the mian reason we went to Stalis is because the Malia scene is about as far away from our idea of a good holiday as possible. We wanted somewhere to relax with a few drinks and enjoy our environment - which is generally what we found - especially with Yamas.

I guess it may have just been an unlucky experience for us with the accomodation, overall I would say Stalis is a beautiful place - well worth a visit - but I wouldn't stay here again.

Just returned from a great 10 day holiday. I've stayed in various places all over Greece & can honestly say that this was the best room I've had. Everything you needed was provided - kettle, toaster, 2 ring hob, microwave & filter coffee maker. The bathroom had a bath - with a shower screen (something I have never had in Greece before), but sadly no hook for the shower head (not unusual). Having read the other reviews, I may have been in a newer room - the other ones in the complex match the proffessional picture. Room 401 is a different style. The only drawback was that it was directly over the bar so it was quite noisy. however they turned the music very low at midnight if there was anyone there. Didn't eat there, so can't comment on the food.
Due to the number of steps this is definately not suitable for anyone with mobility issues.

location was ok - it's on the wrong side of the main road, which can be quite difficult to cross sometimes. There is an underpass further down the road, past the petrol station. Be warned though - if you are taller than 5'4" you will need to duck. It takes about 5 mins to walk to the main Beach road.

talking to some of the locals these apartments are the cheapest in Stalis. I would recommend these to anyone wanting a comfortable place to stay that isn't in the heart of the resort.

i cant say enough about these apartments i have been going to greece for years now the last 6 out of 10 to stalis and stayed in a few apartments but the last 3 years here. i have booked up again this year to go back yes the apartments are basic but so are 99% of apartments in greece if your only looking for somewhere to sleep and make the odd meal and have a shower then thats what most apartments in greece give you. what makes these apartments special are the staff rania and her life saving breakeasts after a night out, zorro and his fun and open way of dealing with people( hows things big man ?) the maids are also a joy to talk to very pleasant and nothing is to much trouble, the rooms are cleaned every day. the pool area is always clean and tidy with enough sunbeds to go around, the bar serves not only drinks but has a good snacks menu aswell and everything is reasonably priced. the only drawback is the national road outside the apartments not with the noise but with trying to cross at some parts of the day although there is a underpass a couple of hundred yards away. as for stalis there are a vast number of pubs and restaurants to go to and the beach areas are well maintained. to me its a peace of heaven on earth with the apartments and stalis

Just returned from a fantastic week at the Villa Alexandra Apartments in Stalis. I could not fault a thing. Bearing in mind you are in Greece and all the apartments are basic. These ones come fitted with a kitchenette with cooking rings, a toaster, kettle and fridge all the facilities you need when all you're doing is making breakfast and lunch. Massive studio apartment with 3 beds. Rooms are fitted with air conditioning units priced at 4 euros per day we did purchase this as the weather was 35 degrees everyday. Safety deposit box was fitted in the wardrobe and was priced at 15 euros for the week. Pool area is small but kept very clean and tidy. As we are in the quiter season there was no problem getting a sunbed around the pool and the beach which is a 5 minute walk down the round had loads of sunbeds also. Restaurant on site serves lovely breakfasts and snack lunches and the menu is reasonably priced.

Supermarket accross the road was cheap and sold everything you would need on a self catering holiday. Stalis itself is beautiful this is my third time here and I would continue going here on my holidays in the future. We met many people who have travelled here for years and have no problems. It is the perfect mix for a good holiday. Quiet beach front resataurants serving lovely local cuisine, busy bars and even a nightclub, what more can you ask for? I would defineatly recommend restaurant Kalianas, Knossoss and Anatolia we had lovely meals here aswell as others I can't remember their names. Please try the Villa Alexandra you won't be disappointed, we had an amazing holiday!!

just returned from my holiday yesterday, stalis was amazing but the hotel was a disgrace at least 5 other people staying there were of the same opinion. the floor was filthy, walls had holes and dirty marks all over them. toaster tripped all the electric, dangerous wiring on kettle and hobs, the shower was vile and hot water if u were lucky. complained to manager she said we could move rooms but said we had the best room!! i did not expect luxury but i do think there should still be some level of cleanliness and quality,

The staff a these apartments are really nice and friendly very efficient checking in and we asked for a sea view and got one. The sea view rooms are much older than the complex extension around the pool and as a rule all the rooms are very basic. The maids came every day but they seemed to use the same cloth for everything and there was dust from months ago on the bedside table so cleaning is not a very thorough job.

The pool area is lovely and even though there were a few groups of 18-22 year olds they weren' t too rowdy and there was a very friendly atmosphere. The pool is the complex best feature and I really enjoyed wasting the day getting a tan.

Stalis is a nice place and the food is outstanding even though value for money is not great but then again it compares to most places in europe now. You won't find much entertainment in the resort but plenty of good bars.
