“A Trip Advisor success story”
Reviewed 17 April 2009

We booked into the San Lorenzo for a week's stay after reading the favourable reviews on Trip Advisor, and I'm delighted to say they were right!
Our apartment was nicely decorated with a large bedroom, dining-kitchen, sitting area and a good sized balcony overlooking the pool and the sea. Rooms were cleaned every day by a thorough and friendly cleaner. In fact the staff throughout the San Lorenzo were great - always polite and obliging. On site facilities included a pool with loungers, onsite cafe-bar and a pool room. They run film nights and offer free use of a library of English books and magazines. The food was better value than anything else we found in Lassi.
The resort itself is quite quiet but very nice with about a dozen bars & restaurants all within easy walking distance, as was the beach which was clean & very relaxing.
All in all a great place to stay which we'd recommend to future visitors of all ages.

Kefelonia is a lovely island, you could be in the carribean, beaches lovely and the sea. Breathtaking views aswel. It's a very quiet country, not much to do so i would rec to go Lassi, as theres more places to eat and bit more of a nite life. I would definatly go soon, as it's unspoilt at the mo. A realy nice hotel, basic but everything you need. Verey clean, nice pool, friendly staff. having seen other hotels around the area this seemed the best. I would advise to stay in the apartments tho and not the residents, we had freiends that did this and they were off the beaten track, bout a 10 min walk to the pool and bar!!!! Defo rec to hire a car to see the island and not go by coach, as its a very small island, so you could do it all in a day. Do not go to Kefolinia if you are used to 5 star big resoerts, all the hotels here are small and basic but them the price reflects this, it was very cheap. at teh end of the day, a room is just a room, the island makes up for the qulaity lacked from the hotels. Don't get me wrong, the hotel was very nice. Woulkd be a great plkace to get married or have a honeymoon.

We recently stayed here and had a lovely holiday (our second time to these apartments). My wife and I had a studio which had everything we needed. The complex and the accommodation was clean and well maintained. The staff are friendly and helpful. The restaurants and bars in Lassi were all a short walk away, be aware there is a fairly steep hill between the accommodation and the main road through Lassi, and Argostoli, the capital of the island, is a short taxi ride away (you can walk if you are feeling energetic) if you want a change of scenery or added choice of restaurant.

Wow, where do I start. Firstly Kefalonia is a beautiful, historical Island and is well worth getting to know. The views are breathtaking, the sea is clear, the weather is glorious and the people are as always friendly and helpful. The San Lorenzo Village is a must, just a short transfer from the airport and you arrive at a very, very nice hotel. The staff were always friendly and helpful. The place is spotlessly clean from the bar to the pools to the gardens and to the rooms. We had a one bedroom apartment as we had our two children with us (5 years and 20 months). The room was great, absolutely everything we needed. We had lots of space and it was very clean and comfortable. We had fans in the room as there is no air con and yes it was hot but we coped with the fans, so did the children. The pool was big and there was never a problem with sunbeds. The childrens pool was a good size and never seemed to get crowded. It was emptied every couple of days and refilled with clean water. There is a childrens playground which ours loved but it has no shade and does get very hot in the afternoons. All in all we had a really good holiday everything was perfect. The flights were on time (Thomas Cook), the accomodation was excellent and the Island, well we loved it! One last thing, that hill! It is steep but the walk is worth it and our 5 year old never complained about it! We would go back in an instant.

SAN LORENZO VILLAGE

We have been going to Greece now for approximately 14 years and never in all that time, have we stayed in better self-catering accommodation. The attention to detail and the cleanliness around the entire grounds is second to none. It is a family run business with very friendly, polite and hard working staff. The rooms were very clean and on arrival we we’re met with water in the fridge, fresh fruit in a basket, savoury nibbles, sweets on the pillows, chocolate in the fridge, washing-up liquid, shampoo, shower gel, shower caps, and a sewing kit. Whether you use them or not a very nice touch, provided by the owner’s not the tour operator’s.
Also in the rooms for use was travel plug, toaster, microwave, kettle, hair dryer, ceiling fan and oscillating fan.
In the bar area food was available and a wide range of drinks, food up until about 8pm and the bar was open until 2am, but one night our eating plans fell apart and the staff were good enough and kind enough to make us something a little later that evening.
The location of the San Lorenzo was at the top of a hill, we booked knowing this and when we arrived I was a little disappointed when someone had described it as a hill, but as the fortnight went on the hill got steeper, but that may have been down to the earthquake that we experienced while we were there, nothing to serious though, or the extra weight gained by some of the very good restaurants and Tavernier’s that were just a nice short walk away.
The beach was a little further than expected or hoped away, but nothing to complain about, the San Lorenzo has a pool away so no problems, the beach is worth the walk down anyway because its was one of the best sandy beaches I ever been on not very wide but again worth the walk down.
The staff, at the San Lorenzo was just the icing on the cake for me, and just to mention a few, there was Adele the polite, friendly and informative Greek speaking English lady, Olympia, the very debonair again polite, friendly and informative Greek lady whom speaks 5 languages and then there’s Dorothy the crazy one, lots of fun, again polite, friendly, informative, I found can be a bit of a double act when with Olympia great fun to be around. I have never missed a place and the staff like this ever before. I really hope to return in the not to distant future.

  • Liked — Cleanliness and staff
  • Disliked — not as near to beach as i would have hoped
