It is rare to find a hotel which you think its completely underrated. My husband and I have just returned from a 7 night self catering stay.

Location - perfect for a quiet relaxing break and very close to the airport. If you want to be out and about you will need a car. Ask Anya for a deal and she can sort it for you. However, if you are easy going then this location is great if you want to chill at the pool and pop into town every now and then. there is a complimentary mini bus service leaving at 10am into Argostoli returning at 2 (everything shuts down between 2-6pm). If you still want to head into town then you can catch the mini bus at 13.45 when it is going into town to collect people.

Quality of Accommodation - 5* for cleanliness! My husband and I were taken aback at how spotless and spacious the place was! The cleaners do a fab job cleaning the rooms everyday. Our room was a double with a single bed. Our bed was great, the pillows were plump and bouncy and there was extra bedding in the wardrobe which we didnt need. The room had a small kitchen, with cooker, microwave and all the utensils you could need. the room has a hairdryer but no iron.

Staff - They were fantasic! we were lucky because we were visiting at the end of the season so the staff were not as rushed as they may have been during peak times. We were always greeted with a smile and their attitude to hospitality really puts us Brits to shame. Nothing is a chore and if we mentioned visiting somewhere a call would be put in straight away to enquire about busses/ferries/excursions on our behalf without us needing to ask. And this was just as we were chatting at the bar!

The reception staff were excellent and very helpful. Maria is a little darling and even when she had a cold she still had a smile on her face and was happy to arrnage our tranfer to the airport the day before our departure.

Food - is good, fresh and delicious. the only downfall is that there isnt much variety. I was grateful not to have selected the all inclusive option as I would have been restricted but the bar is great for snacks and meals. There are a few restaurants down the road 2 of which we ate at.

Overall we had a fantastic time and loved the vibe of the place. the pool area is simply lush which overlooks the sea. The pictures do not do this place justice. I have always been to hotels and thought they are not worthy of the rating they have. It was refreshing to see that Mouikis Sun Village was quite the opposite.

Room tip: Ask for airport view. Stunning views!

We stayed at the Moulkis Village for 1 week from Sept 9th 2012.

As we only were staying a week, we appreciated the short taxi journey from the airport to the accomodation, we arrived in Kefalonia at about 13:30 and was though customs, checked in, changed and by the pool by 14:30pm.

The staff were very helpful, polite and respectful, and accomodated all of our needs when asked, nothing was too much trouble.

No weddings or events when we stayed there, generally a very quiet place, apart from the barman, nice guy, but when he came on shift at 5pm and decided to crank the music up around the pool while you are relaxing was a bit annoying, but other people may like that so who am I to judge.

Food - Breakfast is excellent, lunch was very nice the Greek salad is a generous size and has a large slab of feta on it therefore making it worth what was perceived to be more expensive than outside of the hotel. Did not have an evening meal there, the menu looked limited especially for my wife who is a vegi. But as mentioned Byrons is only a few minutes walk and is excellent.

Accommodation - Very clean, well equipped - we stayed in number 13 (lucky for us) at the left of the hotel reception, it was has a mezzanine and some doors leading on to a stunning sea view. Rooms were cleaned regularly and the air conditioning was free if you needed it. We have stayed at many hotels world over from back packer budget to 5 star boutique, this was worth the money you are paying.

Location - Good location, hillside, great views, to explore and see some stunning beaches (avoid Lassi, it is full of tourist, venture further a field and you are rewarded with stunning quiet beaches, I'd recommend hiring a car, it is the best way to get around and will work out cheaper than taxis, we hired a jeep for three days and was given the car for almost a whole extra day free. The only negative is the hotel over looks the airport, and yes you can hear it, i thought the noise masked the sound of nature, it was crickets combined with engine roars, usually at early morning and early evening, it is not a busy airport so don't let that put you off.

All in all a good place to stay....I would consider going back

The village of Lakithra was just what we expected, very hilly from hotel but quite charming and traditional. There are about 3 restaurants to eat in, the best being Byrons. On arrival at Hotel we were allocated room 23, very basic and very much needs to be updated, however this room is overlooking the sea and airport, so the views are fantastic. But after our first sleepless night in this room we were at reception asking to change, only to be told the hotel was fully booked. This room is under the swimming pool, most nights the hotel has functions, weddings and other events for the Greek. This was not a problem until they start moving all the chairs and tables above our room going on till about 3 am with no consideration for their guests. On one occasion we were told to leave the pool area by 5 30 as they had a wedding booked for 8 pm. I must say they were quite rude, and were quite glad for the guests to leave. Loved Kefalonia this being our second visit, wouldnt go back to this hotel.

Room tip: Do not except rooms under the pool.

Just back from a 2 week stay at Mouikis, excellent holiday, I was initially doubtful due to low cost and a couple of poor reviews-how surprised I was when we arrived. Beautiful location, friendly staff, internet access so teenagers could access facebook regularly! Rooms cleaned daily and bedding changed every 2 days. Would definately recommend bed and breakfast as the choice was great: from full english to fruit sald with or without greek yoghurt and honey. Waitresses were so helpful and advised us which beaches to visit. Overlooking the airport (only 4km away) it was amazing to see the take-offs and landings but due to the height of the village the noise didn't impact on us. A car is needed to get to Lassi and Argosstoli where there are alot more choices of restaurants however Obelisk in Lakithra offeres chicken/pork pittas for 2 Euros which are amazingly good value and Byrons in Lakithra too offer a more formal menu-their waitresses need to learn from the Mouikis staff a lesson or two in friendliness and customer service but the food is great. A brilliant holiday and we would definately go bac.

Room tip: Open plan rooms, we have a family of 4 so our two teenagers were on the bed settees, OK but fortunately we have 2 girls.

This place is wonderful. Brilliant friendly staff. Can't help you enough. Excellent views and pool area. Rooms spacious and clean with everything you need. The village of Lakithra is small with 4/5 eating places/tavernas. All very good. A bus takes you to the main resort of Lassi at 10am each day. The hotel arranged a car hire for us for 1 day it was 45 Euro. The longer you take the car the cheaper the daily hire is. Fiskardo, Myrtos, Assos and the caves not to be missed. Loved it here would return in a minute.

If you are looking for a lively holiday stay in Lassi or Skala. For a cheap, relaxing getaway here is perfect.
