Have been to Doonbeg on five previous occasions and had a three-bed cottage booked for five nights. We rang to book two children into the kids club but were told they had cancelled it. There is no pool at the hotel so this meant there was literally nothing for the kids to enjoy. A manager rang and said there were diggers on site so it was cancelled for health and safety reasons, which was an odd excuse. We were quoted a golf rate of 135 euro per person which is exorbitant in this day and age. Two years ago when we stayed in August we were charged 90 euro. The course is nice but not nearly worth that money. Residents should be given a reasonable rate. When we were there is April we got the golf for just 50 euro although two holes were closed. The new website is awful and doesn't even have a spa menu. Anyway I cancelled the booking and got the impression that Trump and company are only interested in US visitors and don't want old and loyal clients anymore. Doonbeg was my favourite Irish hotel but I can't see myself going back.
