Trim is a great location to explore the Boyne Valley and prehistoric sites such as Newgrange. I have been bringing small groups to Ireland for many years and I have found that Highfield House is ideal for a final night in Ireland because of its proximity to Dublin Airport (easy 45 minute drive). The best part about Highfield House, however, is the facility and the service. The place is immaculate, the rooms are wonderful and the breakfast is delightful. You are right down the street from Trim Castle and within easy walking distance of restaurants, shops and pubs. The staff cannot do enough for you and for all of the aforementioned reasons, I will be back. Next time, though, I'm extending my stay!

There are few places to stay in Trim, so we were delighted with our 2 night stay at Highfield House. Though we got a bottom floor room tucked away in the back, with a window looking out to the service area, it was a cosy oasis. The bed was a grand 4 poster, and the rest of the furnishings were antiques. We hadn't thought to notice if the room had a shower, it didn't, just a handheld in the tub, which was slightly less satisfying for us. The breakfast was excellent, with a full choice menu, a nice change after a month of "full Irish" as our main choice. The building, at one time a maternity hospital, is beautiful, and Geraldine was friendly and accommodating, as were the other staff that we met. Perfect location with plenty to do in town, as well as convenient to Bru na Boine and other Boyne area sites.

Room Tip: I suspect the rooms upstairs have better views.

We made Highfield House the first stop on our honeymoon and it was one of the best decisions we made. It's incredibly beautiful and the owner, Georgie, was one of the friendliest people we met on our trip. We arrived early and a little jet-lagged and even though we arrived before the usual check-in time, Georgie brought us a little breakfast of coffee and scones while our room was made ready. The room itself was beautiful and extremely comfortable. We had some of our best nights' sleep there. Definitely recommend it if you're going to Trim or staying in the Boyne Valley. It's a wonderful place.

We arrived at Dublin airport (9Jul13) on a late afternoon flight and drove to Trim for our first night in Ireland. The Highfield House was a perfect way to start our eleven day Irish holiday. Our room (room 1) was a triple, very clean and roomy enough with a nice shower. We wanted a late dinner, and Geraldine suggested Franzini's, a very good choice. After a very good nights sleep, we had a breakfast most B&B's strive for. An ATM was in the town, perhaps a 10 minute walk. Trim castle is across the street. I would stay at the Highfield House again, and would recommend it to a friend.

Stayed 9 July 2013 and traveled with my wife.

I stayed one night as I was attending a wedding nearby. The room was spacious, reasonably priced and clean. Nice bathroom with excellent shower. Breakfast was homemade and very good. The owner apologised that she didn't get a chance to speak with me (As I had to leave early).
Overal very good and I wouldnt think about staying anywhere else if I was going back to Trim

Highfield House should be a must on every person stay in Ireland. After a month of wandering around Ireland we took our guidebook's advice and stayed in Trim the night before returning our car to the Airport. The B&B was by far superior to many of the places we had stayed in the past month: beautiful rooms that were spacious enough for us to repack for the trip home as well as very clean comfortable. Driving into the airport was quick and easy the next morning. Breakfast was delicious and served by 7:30 a.m. What a treat!!

Room Tip: Wonderful view of river and the donkeys across the way. Gardens are beautiful. Ask for the first f...

This lovely bed and breakfast is conveniently located 45 minutes from Dublin airport and 5 minutes from the largest Norman castle in Ireland. We were greeted at the door by Geraldine who served delicious scones and tea and gave us maps to all the accommodations in the Boyne Valley. Her husband keeps an immaculate arboretum-like garden, including lush hanging baskets. The bedrooms are large and the beds extra comfortable. Our teenage children fed the donkeys across the street with fruit given to us by the B&B staff. From here we visited Newgrange, Knowth, the Hill of Tara and the site of the Battle of the Boyne. The morning we left Ireland, our hot breakfast was ready at 7:30 so we could get to the airport on time. This is Irish hospitality at its finest.

Room Tip: Double room in the right corner of the second floor was perfect overlooking flower gardens and donke...
