“An excellent family hotel!”
Reviewed 4 September 2013

A hotel in the outskirts of Castel di Sangro...10 minute walk to the centre from the hotel.
We stayed at the hotel on Bed & Breakfast basis.

We had a big family room facing the front area of the hotel, and which were equipped with 1 double and 2 single beds.

Breakfast was not satisfying.

We travelled to the skislopes of Roccaraso and aREMOGNA.

While we stayed there we went to the centre to have dinner.

The Hotel has well equipped rooms in the new part with all the comforts and quality of a superior category. The staff is really well organised and always nice, they helped out us with the dinner out, as we wanted to go in the town for dinner, plus they offered free room upgrade. That was really welcomed by us. We experienced also a dinner in the Hotel and must admit all dishes were really good, a particular mind has to go to the cakes which were delicious

Room Tip: Choose rooms in the new part of the Hotel

We, a family of 4, had booked a weekend stay at the Sport Village Hotel & Spa.

We had a big family room facing the front area of the hotel, and which were equipped with 1 double and 2 single beds. The room was basic with a very small TV, fridge and hair dryer. Not much of warm Italian atmosphere.
The hotel advertises with a nice spa area, and this was one of the reasons we choose this hotel. To our disappointment we learned that the mere access to the spa was not for free, but priced at 28 Euro per person (age 16 and above).
The breakfast was good with a section of cake, breads, yogurt, cheese, ham.
The ski slopes (Monte Pratello, Aremogna, Pizzalto) 10-15 minutes drive away were great, even with a small snowstorm on one of the skiing days.

If you are there for the skiing this would be a suitable, although a very pricy hotel to stay at. Just be aware of the distance to downtown shops and bars.
Staff at the reception speaks only little English, but are very friendly and helpful.
Would most likely choose another hotel next time.

We are a family of 4 &went skiing in Monte Portellio & stayed at Sport Village Hotel. We arrived into Naples airport & were met by Sandro who drove us to the hotel. As we got closer to the hotel, it seemed to be in the middle of no where and we had our doubts as to what to expect but as we walked through the door, we were greeted by Rosella at reception. She was really friendly and helpful through out our stay.

We had a family room which was big & spacious with 1 double & 2 singles which was nice. The rooms were basic with a small TV, satelite, fridge, dryer. The beds were comfortable. The hotel had a really nice spa & this was one of the main reasons we choose this hotel as my wife was not skiing. She could pamper herself while we hit the slopes. The spa is not cheap but not overly expensive if you include it in your package at the time of booking & it is worth it. The treatments are also not cheap but very very good. We met Christian & came to a discounted price as we booked 5 treatments. He was very accommodating.
The hotel also had a games room (table football & table tennis). It also had a theatre like TV room, play room & conference rooms. Our daughter went to the kids club in the evening 4:30 - 6:30 pm & that kept her busy while we spent our time relaxing in the spa.
We were on a half board package & the breakfast was very good with a big choice of cake, breads, yogurt, cheese, ham etc....the staff in the restaurant were also very friendly despite the fact they spoke little English.
The transfer to the ski slopes in Monte Portello was free and they were happy to drop & collect you when you wanted....
The ski slopes were great....but that is another review..
The dinner menu was printed & left at reception everyday & there were new dishes everyday with a buffet of salad & breads & puddings. On the puddings, the chef in charge would grab us and tempt us to try all the puddings. Now if you are watching you waist line, you need to decline politely as he will not stop.

If you are not skiing the whole day, this may not be the hotel for you unless you intend to use the spa or have young kids as there is not much to see or do nearby but if you intend to ski most of the day then this hotel is perfect.

TIPS
If you have requested a family room, try to not get the room which is for disabled people as we did. Why, because the floor is all level understandably so when you have a shower, the water can flood the room

Ensure you book your drop off & collection to the ski slopes early but in case you don't, the hotel will do the extra runs

The drinks for dinner are not included so be careful what and how much you order. As we had half board, I assumed they were included. My travel agent should have pointed this out so can not really blame the hotel.

Room Tip: Try getting the room facing the front of the hotel & as already mentioned, try not to get the di...

Everyone is so friendly here!! Really an exceptional Hotel (although some rooms are slightly old). The food is great and the breakfast is plentiful with eggs and sausages. For a ski holiday this is ideal as you can get package which includes the spa (not luxury but very fun and relaxing). There is a (free) driver who drives you to the slopes. The waiters urge you to eat more and offer you as much food as you like ( not like many Italian hotels). Dinner is great, specially "abruzzo night" on thrusday Our car battery died when we were leaving and the hotel staff used their own cars to start it for us. Cant wait to come back next year and ski/snowboard in beautiful Roccarso!
Oh, our room would be a mess after we left to go skiing in the morning and the cleaning service would organize and tidy up all our things before we got back, much appreciated !

Lovely hotel, situated on the outskirts of the village. Family room is very spacious. The staff at the reception were always kind and welcoming, they tried their best to help us get around and find interesting places to visit nearby!

Breakfast is in general lacking. We expected some cold cuts and different types of bread which we didn't find. Only ham and sliced bread. Disappointed that the use of the "indoor pool" was against an extra payment of 28 euro per person!

We spent 4 nights in a double room here. Our room was spacious, clean, warm and bright. The fireplace in the hall downstairs welcomes you when you come in from the cold! The staff are mostly helpful and courteous. But I found the the 28euro fee for entry to the spa (90minutes) steep! This hotel is mostly suitable for families with small children and it caters for such with animators and helpers....so expect a noisy environment!
