“Great place for lunch”

Nice staff, great food (I recommend the octopus carpaccio) and wine, and a wonderful place to eat under the umbrellas.

“Excellent vale and quality”
Reviewed 9 June 2012

Ate here one night when staying in the adjoining hotel, La Pergola. We unfortunately didn't get to sample the whole menu, just the carpaccio and pizza but both were really fresh and tasty and in fact the pizza was amazing. Prices are very reasonable especially considering that it's located on the main street. I was disappointed that we didn't get a chance to return and sample more of the menu but I intend to return on my next visit in September and will bring friends because I feel they deserve the custom for their quality food at reasonable prices.

“Excellent food and service in an unusual setting.”
Reviewed 11 September 2011

Santa Maria di Castellabate is something of a hidden gem - hidden that is from other than 'local' tourists. It is situated on the Amafi coast of the Mediterranean around 20K south of Agropoli. In the winter months it is simply a southern Italian fishing village but in the summer season it really comes to life as the tourists from Naples / Salerno arrive.
the main street of Santa Maria is the "Corso" which is a charmingly narrow street lined with little family owned shops catering for all tastes. Whether it is jewellry; perfume; delicatessen; or simply an ice cream to die for - the Corso has it all. (You simply MUST try the Liquorice flavour ice cream!!!).
The Caffe del Corso is about 150 metres up from the main village square and cunningly hidden behind a low hedge, in planters. It is the perfect place to stop off and enjoy a delicious meal with really excellent service. The menu caters for both meat eaters and especially fish lovers. (All the fish is locally caught and bought in that day from the adjacent fishinhg port of San Marco).
it is fairly difficult to find a "ristorante" in the area - most establishments seem to be 'pizzerias' of one sort or another. This is what makes the Cafe del Corso special and indeed unusual.
A visit is well worth the time taken to travel down to Sanbta Maria and I can highly reccomend it. HOWEVER, don't bother visiting around 15th August as this is the date of the 'festa' and the whole town becomes utterly swamped with people. If you like it quiet then visit before 1st August or after the third week in August.
