“Holiday to Sorrento”
Reviewed 1 July 2014

We found the Hotel Jaccarino or Iaccarino by accident while looking for a holiday in Italy. We had decided our destination would be Sorrento or Amalfi and narrowed our search down to this hotel when we read the reviews - most of which had been favourable. We were not disappointed. In fact we have just returned from a fantastic week in Italy and this hotel was just what we needed. From here we were easily able to take trips to Amalfi, Positano, Capri, Pompeii and Vesuvius (in fact the view from the Hotel was across the bay of Naples to Vesuvius). With the use of the hotel's shuttle bus we were easily able to make the short journey down into Sorrento. However, it was the peaceful location of the Hotel Jaccarino that made returning from a busy day trip something to look forward to. And a well earned couple of relaxing days were spent around the pool or the couple of minute walk into the small town of Sant'Agata. Food was great, so was the wine! And the interior decor was lovely with plenty of room for relaxing with a book or a drink or just admiring the view! It was the fantastic staff at the hotel that we need to thank for making this our first holiday to Italy something to remember for a long time. All were more than helpful and accommodating especially the awesome Nino, Luigi and all the restaurant staff, plus Ralph (and his twin!) and Jean-Marco and the reception staff! Thanks for making our stay so enjoyable. Just one point - it seems that some of the hotel rooms aren't as nice as the one we had - be sure to book a double room with a balcony and sea view. Ciao ciao!!!

Room Tip: Depending which tour operator you use, it seems that some will not have any allocation of certain ro...

Just returned from a wonderful holiday in Sorrento. First time in Italy. The hotel is not in Sorrento but up the hill about 8km from there in a place called S Agata. The staff at hotel were friendly and made everyone fell special. We would not normally stay half board but this time we did and we were not disappointed. The starters were large but I managed them. Nino and Luigi and the rest of the restaurant staff were delightful and made us all laugh. They had a good rapport with us and each other. Raffael the barman who also worked in snack bar was again very helpful and friendly There is a free shuttle service into Sorrento so that was great. We dealt direct with Rino the Manager and again what a pleasure it was as he went out of his way to help us. We asked for a double room with a seaview and balcony and got exactly what we asked for. The views were specaular over the bay of naples. We were in room 10. If you want a relaxing holiday with lovely food, service and friendly staff, this is an ideal hotel. Oh and a little gift was left in our room to say they hoped we enjoyed our holiday. Icing on he cake.

Room Tip: Well our room 10 overlooked the bay of naples and was perfect and had a balcony and got sun most of...

Wonderful position and view, except from the backwards looking rooms, which are small and have no view but on a wall. Restaurant food and service were very good. Very friendly and efficient luggage service.

Room Tip: Avoid back rooms which are small and have no view

I just arrived home from a weeks holiday in Italy and couldn't wait to review this hotel.

This is an authentic quaint Italian hotel, beautiful decor and perfect location.

All of the staff are so welcoming. They are like a big family. I did not encounter one member of staff who wouldn't go out of their way for you. Niño and luigi in the restaurant are like a double act! They created a lovely environment in the restaurant.
The food was beautiful. Different starters and main courses every night - you had a choice of 4 of each. The pasta starters are plentiful and so tasty!

We were lucky enough to have a seaview room with a view of Vesuvius, the bay of Naples and sorrento. I would recommend you upgrade to a sea view room if possible.

The hotel runs a complimentary bus into sorrento several times every day except Sunday. The public buses are cheap and frequent and stop directly outside the hotel.

Be sure to look at booking excursions yourself as Amalfi coast trip from hotel was €40 but if you go to the train station in sorrento you can catch a coach for only €12 return.

I will be recommending this hotel to anybody who will listen. Beautiful authentic Italian hotel where the staff make you feel at home from the second you step foot inside - you will not be disappointed!

We have just returned from the Hotel JACCARINO, unfortunately Tripadvisor have spelt it wrong. We stayed for one week half board the food was excellent with plenty of choices, great service from the staff who would go out of their way to accommodate you. The hotel was spotless and rooms very comfortable. Complimentary mini bus service was a real bonus and worked well, It would be very difficult to find any fault with this hotel. A great holiday and have no hesitation in recommended this hotel. We will return

We have just returned from a lovely week at JACCARINO and cannot understand the negative
reviews. The hotel is set away from busy Sorrento in a delightful authentic Italian village with
fantastic views of Vesuvius and the bay of Naples. The food was lovely and plentiful with
plentiy of choice and the restaurant service was etffeciently run by Nino the head waiter who is a
real character.
We booked last minute so did not have a choice of room but ours was ok and you do not come
to this beautiful part of Italy to sit in your hotel as we were out and about every day.
There is a free courtesy bus and Sita local bus stops outside the hotel and a 24 hour ticket
cost 6.80 euros with tickets bought from tobacconists and validated on the bus.
We did the Amalfi & Positano drive for 6.80 euro instead of Courier price 38 euro
We did Capri for 29.40 euro ferry Courier price 80 euro.
Vesuvius , Herculaneum,Pompeii and Naples can all be reached by very cheap train from
Sorrento.
Capri is very busy and you need a funicular and bus to reach Anna Capri and you must buy your
ticket from a booth before you start queing for the funicular. To get to the very top there is a
chair lift not to be missed
in Santagata go to Orlandos bar 3 euro for a large Peroni. The owner Orlando is a welcoming
host and the bar is a proper local with old men sitting about.
All in all a brilliant holiday and don't let anyone put you of Jaccarino

Room Tip: Book early

We stayed at this hotel for a week from 2 nd June 2014, and chose half board catering. It is situated on a hilltop overlooking the Bay of Naples and has fantastic views! The down side of this is that it is not close to the centre of Sorrento, but the up side is that it commands beautiful views.
The village of Sant' Agata Sui Due Golfi has a typical Italian atmosphere, and is on the doorstep. There are a few shops and bars and restaurants there, and a travel information office, as well as a Church and other places of interest.
The hotel run a courtesy bus service, but evening visits into Sorrento by taxi would be expensive. If you read the hotel website, all is explained. It is possible to walk into Sorrento along a quiet pathway, but this is very steep and took us an hour. We enjoyed it and would do it again, but the return journey would be a struggle. The public transport is cheap and convenient, and once you get your bearings, very straightforward.
The travel company offered excursions at ridiculous prices. For example, a day trip to Pompeii and Herculaneum was €113, and entrance fees were extra. The only advantage would have been the service of a tour guide. We did similar for € 20! We had the courtesy bus to Sorrento in the morning, train to Pompeii for €4.40 return ( very easy journey), €11 entrance fee, €5 for an audio guide. We could take our time using the map given on admission. Herculaneum was the next train station if anybody is interested.
On another day we purchased a day bus ticket for € 6.40 and visited Positano. Some of our party then went on to Amalfi, but we caught a boat back to Sorrento and saw the Coastline from another perspective.
The hotel itself was a quiet little haven. We spent a couple of days by the pool which was not overcrowded. Towels were provided, sunbeds were plentiful. The pool side bar had superb food and every one of the staff were helpful and professional.
If you read other reports, you will see the comments about the waiters and barman. These people make the hotel what it is! They obviously enjoy their work and are happy making others happy! Niño and Luigi are like a "double act". We were fortunate to be holidaying at the same time as some lovely people and the atmosphere in the restaurant in the evening was really friendly. This "made"the holiday!
I would not hesitate the recommend this hotel. When we first arrived we were a little disappointed with our room right next to the road, the staff offered us another room, which was not as nice, so we stayed in the original room, and actually settled in nicely! The road was not too much of a nuisance.

Room Tip: If you would like a balcony with a view it costs a little more, but the basic rooms are adequate, as...
