“A food lover's paradise!”
Reviewed 13 April 2012

This restaurant is a remarkable find in a small village only 20 minutes drive from Chiavari. Antonio, who owns the restaurant, is passionate about his work. There is no menu here. Each course is lovingly crafted in accordance with what is in season and can be sourced locally - exquisite dishes made from herbs gathered in the fields around the restaurant, fresh fish and meat from Genoa, and delicious fruit and vegetables that Liguria has in abundance. Antonio guides you through the experience with great enthusiasm, explaining how he prepares his dishes and why he has chosen the various ingredients.
One of our party was a vegetarian and, as a meat eater myself, I can say that this was one of very few occasions in Italy where I was envious of the fabulous fare on offer made using neither meat nor fish.
The restaurant has been open for a year or so now and, although we have dined there or more than one occasion, we have selfishly been reluctant to extoll its virtues on TripAdvisor in case it became overwhelmed with visitors and we were unable to get a table any more! However, this last lunch we had at Easter was just so good, we felt Antonio's skills should be rightly praised in this way. Well worth the extra drive! Borzonasca itself has some great bars and a little further along the valley you have the extraordinary beauty of the Italian Alps.

“Italian Hospitality”
Reviewed 17 October 2010

It was on a Monday and the Trattoria was supposed to be closed - BUT: "Papa" served dinner to some workers. So we were lucky and Papa offered us the same menu. We enjoyed a 3-course-menu (try the "latte cotta" with coco) and the talking with Papa in a mixure of German and Italian.
Overall a great experience and we will definitely come back to enjoy his other dishes.
