We visited La Greppia twice during our recent holiday in Liguria and loved it. My husband cannot eat wheat, which rules out pasta, bread, etc., which can make it difficult to eat out in Italy. But on both of our visits, the owners took great care to ensure that he got a wonderful meal -- even removing the pasta from the minestone piece by piece! They really went that 'extra mile' to make our visits memorable. We enjoyed an excellent lunch there for just 16 euros, and returned on our last night for a full dinner which ran to around 50 euros -- including starters, the most expensive main course (beautifully-cooked entrecote with perfectly roasted potatoes), their excellent house wine, water, grappa, coffee and -- a real treat -- freshly-baked warm bread that is served in a paper bag. While this was 'out of bounds' for my husband, I tucked into it with gusto! Then there's the location, with its views of the hills and villages around Pratosopralacroce. La Greppia is the heart of the village, full of welcoming local people. We will definitely be returning next time we visit Liguria.
