The Hotel Vigna is well-situated, directly on the (traffic-free) lake promenade - close to many restaurants and bars - with excellent views of the gulf of Salo. We were made welcome even before we arrived, by personal email. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, we received only the best of attention, friendliness and excellent service. A truly most relaxing and enjoyable stay. Most highly recommended.

Room Tip: Book a lake-view room and get the maximum benefit of the hotel's situation. We enjoyed the views of the lake from the balcony of Room 9 on the third floor.

Another fabulous stay at this wonderful family hotel. This is definitely a boomerang place, once visited you will want to return again and again and the majority of guests do. The only thing missing is a pool - sadly there is no room to build one. You could not wish for anything more for a quiet, carefree, relaxing, holiday. Ideal for couples. A home away from home.

We picked this hotel after doing some extensive searching on Trip Advisor for hotels on Lake Garda - and we weren't disappointed!
Salo is a very pretty town and quiet by comparison to most of the other towns we visited on the lake during the week. Even in May Lake Garda is busy but Salo seems to be able to avoid most of the hustle and bustle of the other popular locations such as Bardolino and Sirmione.
We had a room on the top floor looking out onto the lake and the view was magnificent! There is virtually no traffic along the lakeside where the hotel is located (apart from delivery vehicles and hotel guests loading or unloading their cars) so it is very quiet and peaceful. On a couple of afternoons we ordered a bottle of prosecco and just sat on the balcony in the sun watching life (and the ferries) go by!
We drove down from the Uk staying overnight in Switzerland and wondered how difficult the hotel would be to find because of the pedestrianised access at the front of the hotel. We followed tips we saw on other reviews to go through through the town following the "Centro" signs and then turn down towards the lake. We also looked for the roads and roundabouts on Google Earth which we found very useful and saw that near the roundabout you turn down to the lake there is a building with a large Red Cross on which pointed us in the right direction.
The hotel itself is well looked after and very clean. The reception staff were always very friendly and helpful and ready to help with any questions we had.
Breakfasts were excellent quality and the buffet always topped up. The view from the breakfast room was a bonus looking out across the lake.
Although we drove down, we parked the car in the car park the hotel uses just up the road and travelled everywhere by boat. The ferry terminal is literally 2 minutes walk from the hotel so very convenient.
Overall a lovely hotel we would be pleased to return to if we visited Lake Garda again.

Room Tip: Rooms with a balcony have brilliant views of the lake.

We have just returned from our second visit to the Vigna and it was just as good as last year. In fact we ended up back there because we were unable to find a similar hotel - in style or quality - anywhere else in the Italian lakes. Filippo and Roberta are so welcoming and they or their excellent staff are always available. Rooms are spotlessly clean, well appointed (the best aircon - silent and fresh) and very comfortable. The soundproofing is amazing - if you want to sleep in (and you can, as breakfast is served until 11) you won't hear any of the noise from outside, including the 7.30 bells and the ferries. There's really nothing more to say; the Vigna is a great hotel and I can't recommend it highly enough.

Room Tip: We have only had 2nd floor comfort lake view rooms and they are great. Rooms at the back seem to be bigger but would only look out onto the narrow street at the back.

Lovely small hotel with a dedicated team (family owned and run) with a warm welcome and an urge to really take care about their guest. Right at the border of the lake and more or less directly in the mid of town anyhow.
