“do not expect a traditional warm Italian welcome here”
Reviewed 9 December 2013

Arriving with our three young children we were not offered any help whatsoever with our luggage and the"welcome" was non existent. I understand that was a language barrier but a smile costs nothing. This theme continued through our weeks' stay. The atmosphere in the dining room was like a morgue and the food served was repetitive and quite frankly, boring. Tap water was unavailable.
Would I return? Wild horses wouldn't drag me back. How this place is described in the ski brochures as "friendly" is beyond me.

Stayed here in March 2012, the hotel is centrally located, it's clean the food is good, if I remember correctly it's a family run business, and it shows, as everyone is very friendly, and willing to help out. The rooms were comfortable, and clean. The views are not brilliant, but it is close to local shops, and is a short uphill walk to the lifts, and slopes.

As I said we stayed here in March 2012, TA does not allow me to go back that far.

Enjoyed our stay (16 adult), in Albergo Eden. Good loction, near ski lifts. Can store skis and boots in their ski room or , as we did hire a locker for two opposite the slopes even less distance to walk in ski boots and ready for apres ski without returning to the hotel. The food in the hotel was good , as usual veal and pork predominate but there is always a choice , which you make the previous evening. You get 3 courses plus the salad bar which was really good with loads of choice. The small onions marinated in balsamic were delicious! I am an awkward person to cater for as I have a vegan diet. I was catered for very well , just wrote what I fancied on the menu for the next day. I think most our party were desperate for something hot for breakfast by the end of the week. The rooms were clean and with good storage for all clothes etc. The beds were firm but comfortable and the ensuite was fine, we had a shower which was good but I think my broad shouldered, 6ft 3inch, husband would have liked the cubicle a wee bit bigger. Our room (4) was quiet and did not suffer noise from room 2, it was one our party so would not have mattered anyway. The staff on reception and in the restaurant always had a smile for you. We all enjoyed great skiing in Passo Tonale with great snow and sunny weather. Loved the skiing at Ponte di Legno especially the poma run at the top then onto run 14 all the way back down to the gondola. Good places to eat too. We did the run all the way to Temu it is a black but as we had good conditions it was more of a red run, would be more tricky when icy. We also skied on the glacier, two t bars take you to the top has to be done, just because it's there. Although Passo Tonale is not a big resort we enjoyed the variety available to us, cruisy blues for the less confident, lots of reds and a few blacks for the rest, we did ski evey single run from 1 to 36 jut to say say we had !

We have just come back from staying at the Albergo eden in tonale. Staying in room 12 a double/twin the room was spotlessly clean maids every day shower and WC totally adequate. But what made this so nice was the friendly staff great food and just a great atmosphere. breakfast was buffet, cereals meat rolls cakes fruits and yoghurts with a large jug of coffee and or tea. Dinner starts with a hot and cold salad buffet then followed by your choice of the 3 starters you choose the night before and then your choice of 3 main meals also chosen the night before. Food excellent waitresses were lovely and very friendly and then topped off with a choice of 4 desserts highly recommend the panacotta with choice of syrup toppings. Having read some reviews on here I was hesitant as to what to expect, but all I can say is some people obviously want 5* for the price of this 3* hotel and have nothing better to do then moan. I would like to thank all the staff for making our stay a great one and would recommend the hotel and food to everyone. Oh and the latte mochiato's were fab.

Room Tip: Rooms at front are larger 10,12,16,14 looked good sizes first floor

We are here at present, where to start, we find the staff very friendly and there is a language barrier as most of the staff dont speak English well if at all....but we dont speak Italian either!
The hotel is very clean and well presented in a fantastic position with regards amenities, the room is also very clean and whilst basic the only fault we have is no English channels on the tv, and the beds are quite firm.the staff are all friendly and helpful despite the language difficulties, and have done everything we asked immediately like providing extra pillows etc. The food is good you get a menu one evening with your selection for the following evening, you select a starter and a main from a selection of 3, we have enjoyed 90% of what we have tried and along with the pre meal salad cold meat vegetable selection and the pudding, food is more than ample. Having said that I dont think I would fetch children!
To simplify a nice basic clean hotel with good food and friendly staff, good location and more than enough for a weeks stay, we are already planning our next stay here!

Stayed here for a week in Jan 2013 and were very satisfied.
Rooms are quite basic but have all the basics and are very clean. Safes are provided in the rooms, and are free of charge which i thought was good.

The staff are always very willing to help in any way they can and are always pleasant and well mannered.

The food is really, really good. You start with a buffet style antipasti which includes a selection of hot and cold dishes, cooked really well and very healthy. You will be given a choice of three main courses which are ordered on the previous evening and again, everything is of high quality and cooked perfectly. Drinks are served to your table by the staff and if you have some left at the end of your meal, say, half a bottle of water, they keep it until the following evening for you. A good choice of desserts is available. Breakfast is also good, buffet style continental with a good choice. One thing that did impress me was on the day we left, the bus was picking us up at 6am and the staff were up providing breakfast at 5.30.

Couple of slight criticisms im afraid:

The heating could be turned on a little more frequently, it can be a little chilly and it can be difficult to dry gloves and other kit although we did just about cope with the help of the hairdryer on some occasions!

Secondly, the equipment room is not very secure, it is open all day and there are no locks supplied to lock your skis/board, just take your own lock.

Thirdly, the walls are a bit thin and there can be quite a bit of noise at certain times as skiers have those silly clunky boots and make no effort to wall quietly.

Overall, very satisfied and would stay again.

The staff at the hotel, although limited English were very welcoming. We arrived after dinner welcomed with rolls in our room, with easy check in. Breakfast has a variety of options from a buffet, with tea or coffee served to you at your table. The evening meal is pre-ordered from a choice of 3 starters and 3 mains (dessert can be chosen on the evening) service was prompt and efficient, with plenty of very nice food!! (Coming from a fairly picky eater!!) Situated on the main road through Passo Tonale you have ease of access to all facilities, and only a short walk from the ski lifts. Room facilities were very good (including a powerful shower!!) Will definitely be returning to Passo Tonale and if looking for a comfortable friendly stay I would definitely recommend Eden!!
