“Amazing Tuscan Villa Rental”
Reviewed 7 October 2014 for a stay in September 2014

We have just had a perfect family Holiday at Villa Rossa. When we
opened the door we thought wow! The villa with its beautiful cotto
floors and typical beamed ceilings was as we imagined our dream Tuscan
Holiday rental. It was spotless and the kitchens fully equpped had all
we would expect from a rental and more. The location was perfect for
exploring Pisa, Lucca and Florence and we enjoyed days out to the
Cinque Terre and Siena. We did notice a review that said they were
disappointed and we cant understand why? as we found it just
fantastic. We would highly recommend Villa Rossa the owners are there
for you if you need the and did everything and more to make sure we
had a great vacation, even helping translate when we needed it with
our hire car compnay. We have already booked again next year we loved
it that much. Big thanks to Antonio the owner for all his help we cant
wait to see you again next year.

Hello again and a big thank you for your kind review. The property as you found is perfect for family groups especially those with small children like yourselves. Close to the historic centre & with a lovely enclosed garden & pool area created with little ones safety in mind. We are happy to try help out where we can with any problems our guests might have however small. We are very conscientious when it comes to the running of our villa. Although technically we only rent out a property, we do like to give added value where we can. In your case we could appreciate your frustration, trying to sort out a problem in a country with a different culture & language. As you said "having us to rely gave you real peace of mind should further problems occur". Thank you also for your booking next year and we are so looking forward to seeing you all again. You were a joy to have as guests at our villa. kind regards Antonio

“Disappointing”

This house was very dusty with cobwebs and spiders everywhere. The floors were so dusty that you could see the dust getting kicked up when you walked around. We travelled with 4kids for three months and this was the low point and only poor accommodation that I have given a negative review for. We opened the door to this place and our hearts sank. Very expensive for not so great accommodation. Left earlier than planned because the dust became unbearable. Main living area and kitchen a level above the garden area and tiny pool, so disconnected from the outdoor area. The three layers of stale sticky plastic covers on the dining table is outright insulting when charging this kind of money for this place.

We are shocked by your review and that you found the property lacking, especially as you gave no indication of this when we met saying "the villa was lovely!". The villa is checked prior to guests arrival and was not presented in the way you describe. With regards the table cloths, the dining table inside has a table protector on our antique table, which can be removed at anytime. In addition there are a choice of wipe clean table cloths for people with children and other fabric tablecloths for those who would prefer it. If the plastic table cloth was offensive you only needed to replace it with a fabric one! The main kitchen and living area is on the middle floor, however you didn’t mention that on the ground floor leading to the pool area which houses our standard size pool and garden, there is also in addition a bathroom, second living area and kitchen which guests use when eating outside. We are devastated that you chose to raise issues in a review once you had left, as oppose to when you were here with us thus giving us the chance put right the things we could that were a concern to you. We did explain that we are not a hotel and that daily cleaning was not included or advertised, although this could be booked if required at an extra cost. People renting self catering usually clean as they go along! on reflection it might have been better for you to book a hotel as oppose to our villa. We do however wish you all the best in the future. kind regards Antonio

“2 Families with 4 kids under 5!”
Reviewed 29 September 2014 for a stay in September 2014

We highly recommend this villa for anyone staying with young children. We were very impressed with this house! Two kitchens made it very easy for 2 families and the large lounge and dinner area were great for those early morning get togethers.

The pool, although very cold, was a fantastic distraction for the kids, who wanted nothing more than to swim all day.

The location is AMAZING! I highly recommend anyone looking for a place to stay in Italy, to stay in this area of Bagni De Luca. (however I would also recommend renting a car as there is so much to see and do further afield.)

We went off-season, and this meant the temperatures were perfect for the young children. Be aware however, that Italians have very different dinner times than we do, so be prepared ahead of time for your children's meals!

There is a grocery store very close walking distance that sells everything you need, including baby products, juice boxes and little nibbles for your little mouths. No need to overpack nappies! Be sure to stock up on mosquito repellent!

The owners are SO FRIENDLY!!! Both from England, they have an excellent knowledge of the area and can help with your translations ( and phone calls for taxi)

We really enjoyed our stay at Villa Rossa and recommend this villa to families. It is very large and can accomodate 12-14 if necessary! Perfecto!

Thanks for your review, the villa has been designed for families to enjoy with children of all ages. With safety in mind it has the pool area gated as well as the garden. The local amenities are always handy and as you said have everything you need. As the restaurants in Italy tend to start serving at 7pm or after it can be a challenge for families with little ones, however as we pointed out when we met, we do have 2 restaurants that serve from 6pm which for groups with small children is a real plus. Thanks again for the review. kind regards Antonio

“Dream Vacation”
Reviewed 11 August 2014 for a stay in June 2014

I had dreamed about a family/friends vacation for years that would be spent in the Tuscany region of Italy. I had researched and read about the wonderful food, wine, scenery and people of Italy. I spent many an evening looking on-line for villas, homes and rental properties that would fit my expectations. My checklist included a rental that would comfortably accommodate up to 10 visitors, easy access to the train/rail, close to an international airport and walking distance to a mountain village with shopping, groceries and restaurants.
When I came upon the “Villa Rosa” located in the cluster of little Tuscan towns called Bagni di Lucca, I knew I had found “the” place for my dream vacation. My husband and I decided that we would spend a month in Italy and our friends and family would join us over the weeks to explore the wonders of Italy. The villa owners Antonio and Joanna were wonderful answering questions about the area, phone service and internet availability. They also took all of the anxiety about getting to and from the airport away by making arrangements for pickup and drop off at the Pisa Airport. (Highly recommend!)
The “Villa Rosa” was our home base for day trips to Barga, Cinque Terra, Florence, and the beach at Viareggio. Our friends had a car during our first week which made it possible to explore many of the charming small hill towns with delightful restaurants and people. We even took a few overnight trips to Rome, Florence and even Venice. We truly enjoyed seeing the treasures of the world.
Staying for a month gave us the opportunity to relax and really start to feel like the villa and town were home. The local residents were warm and welcoming. Some of our fondest memories are of the long evenings sharing stories (with our limited Italian) over wine and dinner with our family and new found friends.
The villa was great. Location was perfect. Scenery and food amazing. I highly recommend a holiday stay at the Villa Rossa.

“Bella Bagni di Lucca y Villa Rossa”
Reviewed 2 November 2013 for a stay in October 2013

Our stay at Villa Rossa was wonderful. We traveled with three other couples for three weeks in Tuscany. I think we all agree that our week long stay in Bagni di Lucca at the Villa Rossa was our favorite place, where we experienced the charm of a lovely small Tuscan community. The Villa was spotlessly clean. The living room was spacious and comfortable. Bedrooms were comfortable with good beds and quality linens. The kitchen was fabulous and well appointed; we cooked in three nights. The location was beautiful, just at the edge of town with a wonderful view across the river. Great picturesque walks just outside the front door. Town was an easy jaunt downhill and provided charming restaurants and stores and even more charming and friendly locals. We are all from rural California and two couples are farmers. So we especially enjoyed and appreciated the fresh local produce and wandering the hills above Bagni di Lucca.

The hosts, Joanna and Antonio, could not have been nicer or more helpful. Joanna magically appeared when we had a minor medical emergency and assisted us by taking the patient to her family doctor, Vito, who is a real character. Antonio took my wife and I to meet a stone mason and building contractor, and then on to visit a lovely old stone house he had renovated near Barga. Joanna and Antonio arranged a tour for all eight that took us to fabulous places many tourist never see. And the lunch at the agriturismo at the monastery was the best meal we had in Italy.

We would recommend a stay at Villa Rossa to any families or groups that want to experience what real Tuscan living is like in a small community in a naturally beautiful environment. Villa Rossa is fine for older travelers if in good physical condition. Travel to Lucca, Pisa and Barga was easy without a car, once we figured out the buses. The local bus drivers will even take you practically to your doorstep, even when it isn't on their route if the bus isn't full already. We would love to go back and would stay longer. Thanks Joanna and Antonio for making our stay such a pleasurable one.

Hi Guys, So pleased you loved the villa and its surroundings. The pool in the heat of the day is a real plus for all the family as you found out. The villa is perfect for extended family breaks such as yours, as it is large enough for everyone to have their own space with 2 kitchens and living areas as well as lots of private outdoor space.
