What a wonderful place to visit and to spend a few days - perched high on top of the hill sits this huge stone Nobleman's property, overlooking acres of vineyards and olive trees, surrounded by little towns leaning amongst the green hills in the distance - that's the view you get to see every where you look when staying at this place. What a treasure to find this accommodation whilst recently touring around Italy by road. What a grand homestead built in1039 a tuscan fortified farmhouse with huge rooms, high ceilings, large staircases and big hallways - just like a castle. Many original furnishings and ancient artifacts on display - the chandeliers in the main sitting room is amazing and the beautiful wide stone veranders overlooking the magnificent gardens and veiws is just spectacular. Our room was actually a two bedroom apartment with good size lounge and the cutest windows I have ever seen - you could sit on the brick window ledges and look out. Original furniture and only big floor lamps (no ceiling lights) awesome feeling to stay in such "old but grand" unique
premises. The grounds and gardens of the property are beautiful to go for a walk morning or evenings and being it autumn, the colorful trees were lovely - Crisp clean air and nothing but the sound of birds. Lots of wineries you can visit along many different short drives and a beautiful but windy road drive to Siena the gem town of Tuscsny. We did not dine in their restaurant but heard the food was superb - breakfast was definetly great - heaps of variety cold buffet with options to cook a boiled egg yourself at the table. Staff were available and helpful and there is a pool to use during summer. Parking available - best to have a car for Tuscany, railway station was a short drive - metro from there to Florence 30 mins. Recommend this property to get a true Tuscany experience - really relaxing and very Italian.

my husband and I just returned from a short holiday in Tuscany. we stayed at Villa Pitiana, and this was the climax of our journey. breath taking location on top of the hill. building is ancient and the old atmosphere is nicely kept with the necessary modern touch. very comfortable beds and spacious rooms (we stayed in the "superior" rooms). clean bath and shower room.
nice and tasty breakfast is served, and in the evening we enjoyed a chef restaurant style of dinner. in an average price. Laura the chief receptionist and the lady who actually does everything, gives you a home like feeling. she and the others will gladly explain how to get to wherever you need to and will recommend places to see. we highly recommend this place if you are on a easy going journey with a rented car (this is a must).
place is closed in the winter. child friendly.

Amazing 13th century villa, with excellent location, and even better view. Villa is on top of hill, around 30km from Florence in village called Donnini. Having a car is a plus, but there is a train station 4km from villa with direct connection with Florence (30 minutes train ride).
Villas employees are so kind and help full, it was a pleasure staying there.
Simply the best vacation (honey moon) and hotel ever!!!

Beautiful setting views, interesting rooms, amazing place for a wedding, service on the day was impeccable and food was fantastic. The restaurant and bar were slightly overwhelmed by the wedding group though

We stayed here in Sept 2013. The hotel is an old Tuscan villa in the hills near the small village of Donini. The rooms have been tastefully restored in a traditional style, we stayed in a double room which was very spacious with a small kitchen 2 bathrooms and a small kitchen and table . Allthough we ate in the hotel a few times, if you try the tater menus, you have covered the whole menu, So we also ate in Florence and also bought some wonderful Italian handmade pizza and great wine from the Coop in Pontavesia (10 mins) and ate in the room.
You really need a car to explore, Florence is easily accessible by train and access to the Italian motorways is easy - a sat nav is essential, we covered most of the big Tuscan cities in the week we were there..
Highly recommended to couples or people who want to a taste of Tuscany.

Room Tip: The hotel is on top of a hill so all rooms appear to have a good view
