I came back from Australia three week ago to stay some day at home in Italy and I went to Osteria Nero di Seppia with two close friends. I've already been there one year ago, but I have to say, despite the service was great the first time, now it's also improved.
Luigi is a professionist in his job and it's easy to notice that. Menu' is really various and the wine chart seems to be studied for experts.
The quality of the food is of first choise and whilst the price cannot defined low, you can be sure to eat a seafood live ever in your life. Actually, to find good seafood is not hard. What makes this place a "must-visit" is Silvana. She and Luigi are core. Silvana is able to transform a great raw seafood in a first choise dish.
Especially if you are from outside Italy, you should consider Osteria Nero di Seppia. Ofter tourist came in Italy to discover the famous "Italian cuisine" but at the same time they're atracted from cheap restaurant. Trust me, the real italian taste cannot be sold for few money. It's just impossible. You can try to eat Italian with 25$ per person but actually with this budget you can eat in Italy what you can eat all around the world: imported low cost food. What you can find here are two typical italian resource: Italian first choice raw seafood and a 25 years experienced chef.
Thank you Luigi and Silvana for your helpfulness and your congeniality. Sure I will come back for the third time.

We travel to Tuscany every year and have always wanted to find a restaurant with quality seafood. Last week we found it at Osteria Nero di Seppia, the seafood is very fresh and a wonderful variety to choose from. The oysters are the best we have ever eaten from around the world. If you like great fish and seafood this is the place to go, the restaurant is only small so be sure to book. We have already recommended the restaurant to friends that live within the area. Looking forward to returning again for another beautiful meal later this week.

Last night we took our family to dinner at this restaurant having lived on meat, pasta and pizza for the last two weeks and we were all universally happy with our experience. The restaurant owner Luigi is a gregarious man who presides over his restaurant like a feudal knight. A couple of quick words about the restaurant:

1. Luigi speaks absolutely no English and his trusted offsides who is his translator has a very limited grasp of the language, so don't ask too many questions or you will be waiting all night as they try to explain and mostly not get it correct.
2. The wine list is almost exclusively white wines or bubbles, we were told that red wine is not drunk with fish, so they only 3 red carafe wines.
3. The meals are large and filling, so if you are a small eater do not be tempted to have a starter.
4. Unlike some restaurants the seafood platter is really a great choice
5. The steamed lobster is very large and supplemented with large prawns. The whole sea bass could easily feed two people.

The atmosphere is Tuscan traditional the food is great and the wine list is extensive considering it is primarily only white.

Do yourself a Cavour and have dinner here but go knowing that this solely a seafood restaurant with only two pasta dishes both with seafood. There is no view and you need to watch carefully as the place is a little tricky to find.

The wine list was great and the food even better. Fresh and delicious seafood, cooked to perfection. A wonderful way to celebrate our special day. Thanks again Luigi and Aldo !!!!

As a resident of Montespertoli, i must admit the Osteria Nero di Seppia is a rare find. A place where quality is of upmost importance is rare nowadays, especially in an area where refined and revisited meals are less common. The raw seafood menu was astonishing. My personal favourite were the tuna carpaccio with black olives, and the 'galinella' with pink pepper and onions. The fish is delicious and certified fresh as it is served raw in the most interesting and delightful combinations such as 'baccala' marinated in tangerine with salmon eggs (must try). To top everything off, the list of wines is as eclectic as one would expect in such a refined environment, local and imported wines researched carefully to match the meal perfectly. All in all, including the friendly service, a very special experience.
