“Historic town in the centre of Tuscany”
Reviewed 18 October 2013

Instead of going by car, we arrived on foot from our nearby accommodation. As the town is situated on a hill, it's a nice walk providing you a fantastic overview across the surrounding landscape.

We could easily imagine, that Pienza is very crowded with tourists during summer, but in Autumn, it was just relaxing. Grabbing an ice cream somewhere and sitting down on some stairs in the Piazza is just one very relaxing possibility to experience the town.

Take some time and walk around the small alleys. You will find plenty of food stores with some typical products from this area in Italy, but also art shops, etc.

“Lovely”
Reviewed 27 September 2013

Absolutely breathtaking village in Tuscany. The shops, the views, the Piazza and all of the historical buildings make for a very relaxed environment. The views are post card and portrait scenes. If I could find a job in this town I would move my family there. Very relzxing after the hustle and bustle of Rome and Florence.

“Italian jewells”
Reviewed 15 September 2013

If you visit Pienza in a summer day you'll find quite a lot of tourists from all over the world: it's terrific. But if you visited it during the winter or the autumn, well, you'd enjoy the true spirit of Italian renaissance: humans & nature perfectly integrated

“Charming”
Reviewed 12 September 2013

A fab stop! Pienza is a tiny town, with charming cafes and squares, little shops and stalls selling the local famed pecarino cheese. The church is not to be missed since Pope Pius II had it commissioned to celebrate the light in a time when dark churches prevailed. The church is simple, elegant, and beautiful with the back open to the Tuscan countryside. Walk around the back of the church to really enjoy gorgeous vistas of the valley. Definitely visit the church, charming streets, a cafe, and try the cheese!
