“Great Place for Lunch”
Reviewed 6 August 2014 via mobile

We ate here with a large group (10 or so) for lunch on our way from Rome to Buonconvento. It was surprising to find such a modern styled restaurant in quaint Pienza. It had the feel of being in Napa Valley rather than Tuscany. The wait staff was very friendly and helpful. I had the fried mozzarella and grilled asparagus spears with soft boiled egg and truffle. Both were very good. We didn't eat at any other restaurants in Pienza for comparison, nor did we eat in the garden but we definitely recommend it and would eat here again.

“Outdoor lunch”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

We had a lovely meal on our first day in Italy at this establishment. Very friendly and attentive service and food was excellent. Duck pasta was superb.

“What a find!”
Reviewed 2 August 2014

We had lunch here. The friendly owners are from America and speak excellent English. Quality of the atmosphere, service, and food presentation was first-rate, similar to what we find here in NY City. My son's Chianina burger was the best burger he's had anywhere, ever! My daughter's pesto pasta was sublime, and I could not be happier with my carpaccio, pecorino cheese selection, and Montalcino wine. We rated it as one of the two best meals we had during our 11 days in Italy (tied for first)! What a lovely little gem at the top of the hill!

“Good food, but...”
Reviewed 20 July 2014 via mobile

The food was fine, if a bit overpriced for the quality. The service was having a tough night when we were there. They kept mixing up the orders amongst the nearby tables by delivering the dishes to the wrong tables. The guests kept a good sense of humor and the staff was apologetic.

However, the biggest issue was the atmosphere. I felt I was eating in a restaurant anywhere in the USA. ALL the neighboring 2-3 tables around us spoke English (they were all from the States). The wait staff all spoke English with a British/Scottish accent. It just felt odd to be in the middle of Tuscany with very little Italian being spoken. Even the menu seemed geared more towards nouveau cuisine than traditional Tuscan. I enjoyed those experiences when we had to work to understand the wait staff and get them to understand what we wanted. The restaurant was okay, but if you are looking for a more authentic Italian experience, there were several more places in Pienza.

“Good food overvalued”
Reviewed 19 July 2014 via mobile

I only went to the restaurant not the hotel. The decoration is great, furnished with a lot of style. But does this really mean you have to pay so much? Food is good but far from amazing, and for the same price you could eat much better in Tuscany. I think here you pay for the location more than anything else ...
