“Excellent tuscan food @pappalpomodoro”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 September 2012

In a lovely place in Pitigliano the "trattoria" Pappalpomodoro was very welcoming with friendly service. Good choice of local dishes, high quality and abundant portions. Great value for money... We spent 40€ for typical tuscan starters (crostoni), pasta course (pici all'agliona are very tasty and garlicky, recommended) wine and coffee for 2.

“A proper Italian neighbourhood trattoria”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 July 2012

We ate lunch here on an overcast April day when the streets seemed deserted of tourists but this place was buzzing. It appeared that most tables were local family groups or couples, always a good sign. The service was a little slow but once our drinks arrived the wait was perfectly acceptable. Food choice was good, the anti-pasti - cold meats, local cheeses, crostini etc was more than generous and the pasta main courses were really tasty. Dessert choice was limited but everything appeared to be home-made. Three course lunch for two with mineral water and a bottle of wine for 40 euros is pretty good value for Tuscany.

“Serendipity in Pitigliano!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 April 2012

Had a wonderful pranzo here, in February, when many other restaurants were closed, al ferie. Asked a local, (our preferred method, when unable to check reviews), and were directed here. My husband had a braised wild boar dish with black olives in red wine, cooked for hours until the meat was meltingly tender, and the sauce was reduced to succulence. Absolutely delicious! I had grilled lamb chops, which were the best I had on our 2 1/2 month long trip to italy.

The couple who ran the place, (and cooked) were friendly and gracious. We left most happy and satisfied.

“Bit of a disappointment”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 June 2011

Wewent to grab a quick lunch after a busy morning of sightseeing and walking. Yes, it was fairly late during the hours of service but the first two dishes we ordered were off. Then, having told the waiter we were both allergic to peppers, up came my first course - full of peppers! It was replaced with other grilled vegetables but by the time those arrived, our main courses were ready. Food was tasty enough but we could have done without the (quite loud) constant radio accompaniment.

“Grab a table when you can - fills up quickly. Worth the wait though.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 April 2011

We made the mistake of not reserving a table as we passed at about 12:15 on a walk around Pitigliano. By 13:15 it was full and we had to wait until 14:00!
Food is good quality - tasty artisan simple style. Don't be in a rush as the service is quite laid-back.
