“Great stay”
Reviewed 20 June 2014

We have now stayed here twice when visiting Pitigliano. The rooms are modern and well equipped. Also try the Osteria del Ceccottino run by the same family in the square. Very friendly people - Chiara and Alessandro - could not have helped more.

We stayed at this beautiful place for one night in September 2013 and absolutely loved it. As some have mentioned below the little medieval town of Pitigliano is not meant for driving, so we found free parking about 5-10 min walk from the the town, no hassle at all. The message on the front door said to contact the restaurant on the piazza that is also run by the owners and we found the check in to be very straight forward. We discovered a beautiful rooftop terrace with some comfortable chairs where we spent some lovely hours in the afternoon enjoying a glass of wine. We highly recommend the restaurant, we had a top quality meal with some of the best wine we've tasted on this trip. We missed Aircon in the room, so that's perhaps the only minus if you're staying in summer.

If you're looking for things to do in Pitigliano, try the Etruscan Vie Cave, a network of walkways carved into the rock surrounding the city.

We chose this place in Pitigliano because of the outstanding reviews and yes much of what has been said already we would agree with. The rooms are immaculately clean with nice modern bathrooms, but the lowest price rooms are small and with no A/C can get very hot at night. However, there are some more significant quibbles. When we arrived in Pitigliano we followed our sat nav and drove down the little tiny street to the hotel - big mistake! In this situation there are two choices; either attempt to reverse back down the one-way street with Ape 3-wheel vans blocking the way getting irate, OR drive on past the hotel and try to make the impossible turn back up the next street (without the help of a very kind Ape driver we would still be there!). Having then parked a very long way off (parking is at a premium) we walked back down to the hotel only to find it locked up and no one there. Fortunately, I had the phone number of the owner on my mobile phone and she arrived a short while later (tip - reception is not manned, so if there is no one at the hotel, go to their restaurant a few doors away and you might find someone there). After showing us our rooms we trudged back to the car to get the cases (unlike one other reviewer there was no offer of a lift in the owner's Fiat Cinquecento for us!) and we then struggled with our cases up the long narrow stairs to the hotel. We stayed two nights and absolutely loved Pitigliano, but we always ended up having to park a long way from the hotel, Yes the hotel is clean and comfortable, it's location in the old town adorable and very quiet at night. I just wish we had been forewarned that there is no one on reception and how far one has to park from the hotel (which is why I have rated location as average).

Of course, when every review is so glowing you ask why pile on? Our answer is simple. The owners deserve it. They have worked hard to create a brilliant refuge in a very special part of Italy. The owners hospitality is outstanding. When I tried to wrestle a bottle of water from the co- owners hand to carry to our room she would have none of it stating, 'you are on vacation, I will take it up.'
As and addendum, do yourself a favour and eat at their restaurant. It too is top notch.

You have been to Italy. You have been to Tuscany.
But...have you been to Pitigliano ?
Well...Don't go ! I would like to keep it for myself !
We arrived in Pitigliano by car. It was about 4pm. Not familiar with the town and looking for Le Camere Del Ceccotino, we stopped to ask our way to a local person. Without any hesitation he got his phone out of his pocket and said, in italian, "hold on, I know the place and I''ll call to let them know you're here". The town of Pitigliano is mostly closed to vehicles but he nonetheless informed us that we could,as visitors, perhaps drive through the tiny alley to the hotel to drop off our luggage and that if the police would stop us we could simply talk to them and tell them why we were driving in this historical center. People still talk in Pitigliano ! We did just like that and upon arrival at the end of that alley, the owner of the Camere was kindly waiting for us. She even lead us back out to a free parking space and drove us back to the Camere in her classic Fiat 500 ! It was just great ! The place was very clean and ideally located. We would recommend it to anyone looking for a genuine stay in Tuscany. Francesca I think her name was. Ciao Francesca ! Saluti, auguri de la Svizzera !

This hotel which has five rooms is one of the true gems in Tuscany! It lies in the center of the medieval town of Pitigliano which is absolutely worth a visit. The owners of the hotel were incredibly nice and the rooms are brand new and excellent quality. The decoration of each room was done with much attention to detail and are simply beautiful!
We spend a very comfortable night here. We had dinner in the nearby restaurant owned by the same couple. The food was excellent and very reasonably priced with local products. This was one of the highlights during our trip to Italy!

Room Tip: There is no air conditioning so the rooms to the north side are a bit cooler. However, the nights ar...

A most pleasant surprise the Ceccottino boutique hotel. The renovation of all and all five rooms are done with very good taste. Beautiful fabrics and materials adorn each detail of the rooms. I was lucky to visit all five rooms and each one with different personality. All this, the work of Alessandro and his charming wife who have really put so much care in this outstanding renovation. The restaurant on the piazza is unique in all senses, location, food, atmosphere and surrounding scenery. You are just in another world. Pitigliano and Ceccottino are a well kept secret of Tuscany waiting to be discovered. Bravo, Alessandro! Do not forget to ask for a visit to the private cellar and his small enoteca restaurant hidden in the narrow alleys of Pitigliano.
