Reviewed 15 September 2009

This was a great place to chill out by the pool or visit the Chianti countryside.
We rented a car in Siena (which seemed to be the nearest care hire location we could find) for our 4 day tour of this area & it worked out well. We ate in the Villa Lecchi restaurant 2 of the 4 nights & the 4 course meal was lovely (around 20-25 euro pp plus vino!). On the last night we discovered a great restaurant in Staggia Senese "Il Pozzo dei Desideri" (but hidden from the main street, you have to go through an archway from the main street).
Our room in Villa Lecchi was very comfortable, on the top floor with great views from both windows, although we had a choice of a ground floor room instead. The bathroom was spacious if a tiny bit dated but shower etc. all fine. Enjoyed our break here.

A true Tuscan experience from the moment we arrived, My wife and I stayed at Villa Lecchi with our two twelve year old daughters for thee nights in an amazing suite complete with bell tower and 360 degree views of magnificent tuscan countryside. As we pulled into the courtyard we were greeted by name by the owner Laura and this set the scene for a wonderful three nights. She then proceeded to rustle up the most amazing Mozzarella, Basil and Tomato salad with mixed meats and bread. The food at breakfast and at dinner is cooked excellently by Mamma, she can be seen every morning watering and tending to her vegetable garden before arriving at the villa laden with fresh vegetables and fruit .They even make their own olive oil and wine!!! Can't wait to go back to that swimming pool surrounded with trees and the most amazing views or to sit on the terrace with a bottle of red wine and watch the sun go down.

The villa has been lovingly restored by the family.Great location for sightseeing. The views from the terrace are just wonderful! Relax and soak up the atmosphere with a pre dinner drink before sampling Mama's great cooking with produce home grown or bought that day. No lift. Lovely family who run it with very little help. Laura ready to help you in any way. FATASTICO! Shall definately return.
This is a real Tuscan experience in a beautiful old villa do not expect 5* glitz.

Thanks to the brilliant reviews on Tripadvisor we booked with Villa Lecchi and it did not disappoint! The food was amazing and the views were stunning. We only planned to have dinner there one night but ended up having dinner at the hotel nearly every night. Laura and her family that run the hotel are amazing. We did very little research on places to go whilst we were there and Laura gave us lots of advice on where to go and what to do. You must have a car if you stay at Villa Lecchi and do not go through Staggia Senese to get to the hotel as it involves a trecherous hillside route. The location of the hotel is perfect for trips to the key locations in Tuscany and we used it as a base to get to Sienna, Florence, Pisa, Space Outlet, The Mall and many others.

Villa Lecchi was one of the hotels we stayed at as part of an Odysseys Unlimited tour to Northern Italy. This restored hilltop property has a magnificent view, lovely rooms and a fabulous restaurant. It is quite old, with surrounding walls and sentry towers, but has been beautifully restored. We spent 4 days at the Villa, using it as a home base for travels in Tuscany. The closest town Poggibonsi is too far to walk, so a car is a must. I stayed in a standard room which had a beautiful view of the valley. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was modern. The bathroom supplies were sparse, so don't expect luxury amenities. Rooms are in three different buildings set close together. There are 37 rooms at the Villa. The food in the restaurant, prepared by the family is wonderfully authentic. Our tour was there on a Saturday night and the restaurant was packed with hotel guests and locals. The family is warm and accomodating. This feels more like a bed and breakfast than a hotel. Don't hesitate....

We have just returned from a fabulous week's stay with friends at the Villa Lecchi which is a wonderful Mansion with 37 bedrooms situated on top of a hill near Poggibonsi in Tuscany. The views from the large terrace are magnificent.
The service, particularly from manageress Laura was exceptional, nothing was too much trouble and all four of us agreed that we could not fault it. The home cooked food (by Laura's mother) was so good that we dined 'in' for five of the seven nights stay. Twenty Euros for four delicious table d’hôte courses was excellent value. The wine list was comprehensive with good Tuscan wines. Bed and breakfast for 90 Euros per couple in a large air conditioned double-bedded room was also great value. A good sized open-air swimming pool is available with great views across the valley to the 14 towers of the wonderful walled town of San Gimignano (half an hour away by car). Florence, Siena and Volterra are within easy reach. A truly excellent all round experience.

Villa Lecchi was an excellent choice for touring many nearby cities including Sienna and San Gimignano. The owner family is wonderful. We had the luck of getting the large corner suites and had fabulous views of rolling Tuscan countryside. The Villa is a bit worn at thre edges and for us that only made it nicer. We had one day poolside and we had the entire pool area to ourselves as so many guests do day trips from this central Tuscan location. You must have a car to make good use of this location.

  • Liked — the owners, the view, central location to many great towns
  • Disliked — finding it!
