Antico Borgo San Lorenzo
Reviewed 13 August 2014

Located in the middle of the countryside with great views across the valley. Deer and other animals would appear early and late in the day and wild herbs growing everywhere made this agriturismo very memorable. We could see the pool from our room which meant the kids made good use of it. It's an excellent pool whether you want to swim or play and we used it every day. The people managing it are very helpful and not pushy. Our room wasn't fancy but had everything we needed and had character. Beds very comfortable and we all slept well. Lots to do in the area whether the well known cultural places, good walks (including a disused railway just below the hotel where you can cycle/walk/run to nearby towns including colle di val d'elsa) or visiting chianti region. We stayed 6 days and it was good value.

Room Tip: Talk to the managers when you book and say what you're after. It's a small place and they...

A massive thank you to Alessia, Jacopo and all the staff at Antico Borgo, San Lorenzo for giving us our perfect, fairytale Italian wedding. Their level of service and attention to detail was incredible and exceeded all our expectations. Relying on emails to organise a wedding for 40 people in a different country could have been stressful but with Alessia's help and advice our wedding day ran without a hitch. Everyone recommended to us, from the florist to the photographer couldn't have been more skilled or helpful and made the day one to remember. All of our guests came home from the trip raving about the experience and full of praise for the accomodation, food and the small details that the Bandini family organised for us.

The level of service we received from all of the staff was 5 star and went above and beyond anything we could have ever hoped for. We cannot recommend this estate highly enough for either a celebration or a short stay while travelling around Tuscany. We will certainly be back and so will our guests.

Room Tip: All rooms are fantastic and the bathrooms in Rosa Bianca are worth a look!

We stayed for a few nights and had a great experience. Staff were excellent and the whole place has a great, relaxing feel about it. The pool was amazing and the restaurant was one of the best of our trip. A great base if you're visiting Siena, San Gimignano, etc.

we has a great time at the villa. the place even has a small church. the restaurant Casa Bandini is a good and cosy place to dine. It was nice to meet the owner Mr. Alllesandra. I wish to be there time and again. Its a nice place to make a base for week ten days and drive around exploring the whole of Tuscany.

Room Tip: we stayed at Fico apartment. It was good and recommended for 4 persons.

Since 2003 I think we have stayed here about ten times - both as a couple and with small children. It is a beautiful place - so peaceful and quiet with spectacular views of the countryside. It is also an ideal location for touring Tuscany - within easy driving distance of Siena, San Gimignano, Chianti, Florence, Volterra.
Recent years have seen improvements made with air conditioning now a feature in all or most apartments and a small play area for children with a slide, table tennis etc.
We have stayed in most of the apartments over the years - all decorated in traditional Tuscan style but with everything you need. Particularly nice are Granaio if there is only two of you, or Fico for a larger group - the balcony off the kitchen there is lovely.
The restaurant is top class - great food - a little pricier than restaurants in the surrounding areas but worth it. The pool area is never overly crowded and so relaxing. The owners are friendly and welcoming without being intrusive. I know we will return again and again.

We spent 5 nights with group of nine. We ate three times dinner which was excellent. Breakfast was a bit poor but enough anyway. Very beautiful house and enormous sights. Easy to get all over Toscana.

Room Tip: Rosa Bianca was super for group of nine!

Great place to stay with individual medieval buildings made into rooms. The church was built in 1000 AD and our room followed in about 1200. Great restaurant with typical Italian dishes. Bucolic view across a valley with easily imagined battlefield. Very close to San Gimi and Volterra. Easy drive to Florence, Pisa and Lucca - perfect location. The manager, Jacapo, was outstandingly helpful.
No fitness center but a nearby trail in the valley.
No real downside. It was hard to find the first time. Great value but we were there in the preseason (April).

Room Tip: We had a room at the edge of the hillside which overlooked the valley. Beautiful.
