This hotel is deserving of my first ever tripadvisor review. A beautiful hotel nestled in the Umbrian countryside with a very warm welcome from the owners (Leonardo and his mum) who were happy to provide recommendations and make reservations on our behalf. The food in the evenings was delicious, so good we ate at the hotel 2 out of 3 nights. We hope to visit again sometime soon...

Staying at Torre Palombara - a half-a-millennium old construction in the beautiful Umbrian countryside, an unbelievable balance of good taste and comfort - would already be worth the trip if it were simply "coldly" managed as any other historical residence.

But it is way more than that. Leonardo's warm and heartfelt welcome, together with his local knowledge and unexpected, precious tips on which hidden corners of Umbria to visit and enjoy, were one of the highlights of our trip.

Three pieces of advice for those who plan to visit next: 1. do have dinner at Torre Palombara. 2. do ride the Umbrian hills with Leonardo in his historical car from the Fifties. 3. allow yourself more days that you had initially planned. Seriously, we did not want to check out and leave.

Room Tip: If available, get the Colombaia suite.

We only picked this establishment because of its Tripadvisor rating and as we drove towards it, (sent on a detour) we wondered why we were going to the middle of nowhere. How wrong were we! This is an experience rather than accommodation, (which by the way, is very lovely and very comfortable), but it is Leonardo who makes it. He is born to this in a very genuine and warm way and it was infectious the way he spoke of his family, the family home, which is rich in history, and the places around it. You really felt that you were guests in their home, which in fact, is what you are. He was very quick to understand the kind of travellers we were and everything he suggested was spot on. Nothing was too much trouble and he even helped us plan our forward journey. We cannot recommend this more highly, although I'm a tad reluctant for it to get too popular!!

Everything about our stay here was wonderful. It starts with the people, Leonardo and his gracious mother. This home has been in the family for hundred of years and the restoration is both authentic and comfortable. It is set on a hill with a beautiful view of Narni from the terrace. We stayed in the suite La Calombia which is two stories and has two bathrooms including a large tub and shower. The private terrace has incredible views as well. The mattress was the most comfortable one in Italy. During our four day stay we had dinner at Torre Palombara three nights. The food was great and it is a real plus to be able to have dinner and then just walk up to your room. Breakfast was extravagant. We've only been gone a day and we miss both the place and the people already.

We stayed at this space of serenity for 6 nights and could not have been made more welcome. The hosts could not do enough to ensure our stay was peaceful and relaxing.

They shared their love of how their home was restored and a passion to recreate both the interior decor and gardens to how it stood back in the 15th century.

When you visit be sure to indulge in a traditional Umbrian meal which was passionately prepared by Frederica and was fantastic.

The scenery is stunning and view accross to Narni at sunset was lovely.

We were given in great detail places to visit and suggestions of alternative restaurants to sample in the area.

We will hopefully return and cannot think of a more grounding & beautiful hotel to stay in.

We found some great reviews about this place - and couldn't agree more. It is located in the Umbria countryside, not far from Narni. The house is a well preserved, 500 (!) years old place, managed by a member of the family who owned it all this time.
He was very friendly and helpful, gave us travel tips about the area, told us about the history of the house and in general, made us feel at home. The room was spacious and clean, with amazing view from the window.
If you are looking for a place in Umbria to spend a romantic vacation - I would certainly recommend this place.

There is so much I could say about this breathtaking home. And even more about the kind people who own and manage it. Leonardo and his mother are the most gracious, charming people you could ever meet. They will go out of their way to make your stay as comfortable as possible. And comfortable you will be! Leonardo is ready with tips and advice on where to dine and where to visit. We followed him to the train station so we would know where to go for a trip into Trevi for a wine tour. He helped us purchase our train tickets. Helped us with parking in the town of Narni. Called and made reservations for us at area restaurants that he suggested. And the restaurants were wonderful. Gave us maps and directions and... I could go on and on! They will make you feel right at home. The home is very comfortable and beautifully decorated. Beds and bath very comfortable. Breakfast was the best of our two weeks in Italy.

If you are visiting the Umbria area, you must stay here. My husband and I visited Italy for two weeks, staying in three Bed & Breakfasts. This was by far our favorite. If we ever visit Italy again, and I hope we do, I think we may just plan on making our entire stay with Leonardo! Thank you for such for the hospitality!
