I have done 2 roundtrips through Norways in loads of different cabins/lodges. But this place is so stunning that you cant believe your eyes! We arrived and i just had to check if we were at the right place because you cant imagine ending up here.. in the middle of nowhere with the wild untouched nature to be this beautiful residence that fits in the surroundings.. it just feels right to be there! I would highly recommend the cabins.. very original wood styled with clean bathrooms and its a very cosy home! Not to even start about the view we had... breathtaking... you can see the waves climbing up the rocks in front of the houses!! Not only was it the best place to hike but also to fish.. you can fish in front of your cabin.. take a fishingtrip with the staff or fish off a bridge (10 minutes drive). Its a fairytale place to stay for everybody! Im definately going to stay there again in the future! Travelers... dont miss out on this place!

Our experience with the Sagafjord hotel could not have been more difference than the last poster.......We stayed at the hotel for an extended family reunion, and the setting on the edge of the stunningly beautiful Hjorundfjord was magical.....our children loved walking to the nearby farms, watching the goats on the turf roof of the hotel, and fishing from the local dock. This is a tiny community, so no one should expect a Michelin-starred restaurant, however the food was good and wholesome. And so long as you don't order any alcoholic drinks, not horribly expensive. The staff was also friendly and helpful, Traveling in rural Norway is always a challenge, since even local hotels can be closed on holidays, so was really impressed by the professionalism of the Sagafjord staff

We stayed in Saebo after being in Geiranger. Saebo is off the beaten path, and it shows. It is a tiny town nestled between mountains, making for an extremely picturesque setting. The hotel buildings are right on the fjord. They are attractive from the outside and have grass roofs.
While we chose this location b/c it was out of the way (and b/c Hjorundfjord is beautiful differently than some of the other fjords), that same remoteness limited other options. There were no stores or restaurants (there was a convenience store, but they close by 5 pm), so our dinner choice was the hotel restaurant. There, the food was okay, the service was pretty bad (not rude, just not attentive). And of course, the food is expensive.
The hotel has a nice sitting area by the water and over the water. In July, the seagulls babies have fallen from the roofs where they hatched and can't fly yet, so there are packs of seagulls that are angry ALL DAY long. It was difficult to be outside near the hotel.
The buildings are quaint from the outside, inside they are minimal and short on comfort. The walls were thin, there was no tv, and no way to get air aside from opening the window that opened into the parking area.
Overall, the memories of being in that tiny town and its perilous location make a visit to Saebo worthwhile. However, the hotel stay is more of a drawback than something to look forward to.
