“Very good beach hotel athough could be better”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 February 2014

The hotel is really nice although the front view is definitely not welcoming but if You enter the reception already You will be already satisfied. I write this opinion with hope that management of the hotel will read it and improve some details. Lobby is very nice, rooms are great (we had an apartament but I belive that other rroms are also good), breajkfasts are top quality. Swimming pool area should have more attractions for children but they have the best playground for children I have ever seen at the hotel. Restaurnt a'la carte service should be more proffesional and lobby bar service is "under the critics" - so bad. The main problem is parking solution and parking area PERSONNEL.
Grate advantage of the place is a beach which is only ab. 100m away.
Big disadvantage is price which in high season is higher then e.g. Las Palmas Crisitna or Reina Isabel- great beach hotels with good weather guaranteed.

Nice hotel. Very good facilities. Very clean. Good buffet meals. Very close to the beach. Seems particularly suited to families with children. Nice spa facilities. All spotlessly clean.

The only negatives are as follows:
when emailing for details on transport to the hotel, the reception simply replied 'you can get a bus'. I would expect a 4 star hotel to expand on that with bus times etc. Cannot be the only time they have been asked this.
Also, on arrival, at 2pm (rooms stated to be available from 2pm), we were told room not availalbe for 30 mins. When we asked if this would be the maximum it would take, they changed their minds to 1 hour. We then went away, and came back 90 mins later. Room still not ready. Would be a further 30 mins. We had travelled a long way, and my pregnant girlfriend wanted to rest. Making us wait for over 2 hours past their check in time is very poor.
The room we were allocated was nice, but I think they should not allocate one of the few couples with no children to a room right next to the childrens play room. Kids running up and down the corridor until 10.30pm or so. Also a noisey extractor fan outside the room. Our room was 101.
Overall we liked the hotel. Ordinarily, Id give 4 out of 5, but due to the above, think 3 out of 5 is a fair representation of our experience. Would go back there when our child arrives as it is such a good child friendly place.

Room Tip: Avoid room 101 if you want a quiet room!

Hotel next to the beach, lovely place, good swim facility out and indoor.Children playgrounds, xbox, ball ground - all the best! Kids will love it, adults might have some concerns over a bit dated rooms (old part) or lack of deserts,. Staff very helpful but a bit amatour. In general good chioce as long as you close eyes on small problems. 4 star yes - with smal but....but forget it, not for posh - but for good people.

Room was spacious, plenty of storage, drawers etc. One bed was OK but not the other. Nice Bathroom. Air Con was inadequate. One young porter spoke good English, one receptionist some English so if you don't understand Polish or German your stay could be challenging. Breakfast was a large room, bit chaotic, plenty of choice but a bit too open for the odd fly or three. Dinner in the main dining room [also the breakfast room] finished at 19.30. We were told 8.30 but that was a language mix up - In Poland it is half to the hour and not half past. If you do go make sure there isn't a beach festival / party taking place unless you enjoy those. Loud "Music" as in Thump Thump Thump until 3.00 AM for 4 consecutive nights - our complete stay. Well 3 as a severe thunderstorm disrupted proceedings on one night. Resort and hotel location were not quite what we expected. Not the idyllic spa resort that the publicity was claiming

The hotel consists of two parts, an old one and a bigger new one. We stayed in the old part, so our review is based only on our experiences there. The newer part might be in better shape.
Our room was quite spacious with an extra couch and TV with many channels (including German). However, the age shows: the beds are saggy, furniture used and the bathroom needed urgent renovation and showed some mold. Bathroom ventilation was also quite cumbersome - we had to put a chair in the door to keep it open.
Staff was friendly and fluent in German, parking was well organized with 30 PLN a day and the location could hardly be better just 100 meters of the beach (if you want to get to a quieter part of the beach, you have to walk some 100 meters, though).
There is a nice spa area with two pools and two jacuzzis, which get crowded quickly, though. The steam sauna was quite nice whereas the Finnish sauna seemed to be out of work. There are popular aqua fitness classes every morning.
The breakfast room remembered us of a college commons, the variety typical of big Polish hotels (i.e. only ersatz-juice)

Hotel Lidia is a spa hotel by the beach in Darlowo. The rooms are spacious, clean, & very nice. Plenty of room for two in the shower! During our winter visit most of the guests were older Germans that come for the spa & beauty treatments not to mention the lower prices in Poland! There are terry-cloth robes in the closet. Just put on your bathing suite, robe & head for the indoor pool & hot tub. There is a good restaraunt with a hearty breakfast to start the day. You can then go for long walks down the beach or into the harbor town of Darlowo which is a bit south of the hotel & 30-minute walk. You may want to take a cab for
3 bucks. If you like fish, you'll love eating out here! The fishing boats come in every day with their catch. I do recommend the
restaurant in town at the Hotel Eric! The Baltic Sea in Poland has small towns, no freeways, and beautiful long, white, sandy beaches. It's similar to Denmark where I used to live but a lot cheaper! Unlike Denmark though, not a lot of people speak English!

  • Liked — Nice rooms & location next to the beach
  • Disliked — The staff speaks Polish & German, could be a problem for English only speakers
  • Tips/Secrets — For a fun summer holiday the prices at the Baltic in Poland are a real value
