Nice dining room facing a minimalist garden, but no river view.
Menu with 5 options for starter, meat, fish and dessert.
For starter, I would recommend the shrimp, exquisitely prepared. Cod fish tartar with green pea cream was no more than reasonable
Seafood "cataplana" had a good sort of seafood, but lack of spices.
The best part of the meal was probably the dessert. As I was part of a big group, I could try a couple: pudding with ice cream, chocolate mousse with pannacotta, orange cake with lemon + orange ice cream. They were all very good, but forgettable.
Good choice of wines.
Price around 30-35€ /person with starter, main dish, dessert and wine.
Unfortunately the restaurant showed two awful characteristics: lots of time waiting for food (45 min for a starter is outrageous) and a incompetent waiter, mixing and forgetting orders, not being available (when we were the only group at the restaurant) and actually being rude to one of the guests. A restaurant at a 4-star hotel needs to select good staff to earn its stars!!
Not going back!!!

The brand new Design and Wine Hotel was a surprise to us: we stayed in the premium hi-tech room which moves 35 degrees for two nights. The mattress and linens were superb, attention to detail, spotless and enormous windows with a view which are equipped with electrical shades (two sets- room darkening + privacy set). The bathroom was oversized with a glass window which allows light and view to come through. Excellent closet space. we also had dinner in the restaurant one evening which was superb: try the pea soup with tartar of bacalhau and the 3 flavor shrimp which are both to die for. We also loved the location which is literally in the center of town. Walk out of the hotel into the Town's square which is a real treat. The staff is so attentive and generous, they can't do enough to please.
Highly recommended.

Room tip: the five "high-tech" suites offer river view and beautiful sunsets. They are also the only ones with floor to ceiling windows.

We visited this amazing place just to sample the wine. It is right on the town square and from the outside looks like all the other older Portuguese properties but step through the door and you are in a very modern, polished interior. Their wines were lovely and the staff were super friendly and helpful. We ate with them that evening the food was very good. The chef even offered us a sample of her wonderful chutneys and suggested we try a bit of everything dessert, which was wonderful and amazing to look at.
