“Good golf holiday”
Reviewed 30 July 2014

It was my husbands first golf holiday with me( the wife) After a short flight to Faro then transferred to hotel across spanish border around 1hr. We arrived late evening the hotel provided a supper and water just what we needed. Our room I thought was quite roomy with balcony over looking the 18th .green. Breakfast was varied cereal, fruit or full english if you fancied. Everything was cooked to order so you did hav to wait if you wanted eggs cooked. Then we were off to golf, 3 9 holes courses. hard blue. intermediate green and easier yellow so they said.well we were told the yellow easier was closed for maintenence so we played blue, hard course then green intermediate. The first hole all you could here was balls hitting the tree's they had many. The rough was rougn but thought first hole not bad, then we turned the corner to second hole it was OMG.you had to get
over a lake. The course was a challenge but enjoyable. The green course also had quirky holes.
Evening meals very nice again the cooked food to order so they had a bit of a queue, lots of fish and meat dishes, Best variety iv had re previous hotels iv stayed in. We are going back next year for 10 days thoughly enjoyed holiday so did hubby.

Room Tip: This hotel is for golfers but non golfers cud sunbath in nice pool area while. others play

Not long back from a summer holiday at Islantilla Hotel and Golf Resort. This was our 5th visit in total and our second summer visit. As always the staff at this resort are great and we always find the service, attention and assistance to be excellent. Special mention to the two Isabels, who are very attentive and friendly in the dining room. The rooms are very spacious but as others have previously said in reviews, a bit of a refurbishment in terms of carpet cleaning and a repaint of the bedrooms would not go amiss. The golf courses (27 holes ) were again in excellent shape although again 9 holes were closed for the first 9 days of our holiday. Additionally the course is heavily watered overnight and in the morning some areas are extremely wet, particularly around some of the tees. We arrived in early June for a 3 week stay. During the first two weeks the hotel was comfortably busy. However the 3rd week at the end of June became absolutely chaotic as far as evening dining was concerned. The Spanish schools had broken up for the holidays but this was the case when we went last year and there were no problems then. The hotel had put on some kind of offer which appeared to trigger a stampede in the dining room at night. The thought of having a pleasant , relaxing evening meal went out the window. It was like getting food from a buffet in a rugby scrum. We resorted to getting down as soon as the dining room opened at 8.00 pm and getting out before most of the guests arrived. People going in later on, were actually in a substantial queue to get tables. We felt sorry for the staff who were put under real pressure. There was also a lack of apparent organisation at the grill which was not there at the start of our holiday. At times one chef was left on his own doing the cooking on the grill, cooking pasta and carving joints of meat whilst all the other chefs vanished behind the scenes, resulting in more chaos. Although on half board we went out to eat twice during our final week to avoid the crush. We will possibly return to Islantilla but not when the Spanish schools have broken up for their summer holidays.

Room Tip: Rooms not overlooking the swimming pool are obviously quieter. Rooms facing the golf course get the...

Our 1st visit here and we found the staff, the rooms, the buffet restaurant all good. The club house restaurant is a very pleasant place to sit after a round of golf with lovely views over part of the course. The spa was good too & I enjoyed the indoor pool which is in a conservatory type building near the gardens & outdoor pool. Some of our party felt that not having a door between the loo and the rest of the bathroom was a bit strange but it didn't bother us. We would stay here again.

I can really recommend this place. There is a lot of things you can do in this hotel even though you don´t play golf.
Staff is really friendly, and food is great.
The rooms are spacious and clean, and the beds are awesome :)

This was our second visit to Islantilla golf and once again it did not disappoint. We went primarily to play golf and found the course in superb condition. The three 9 hole courses offer plenty of variety over a few days. The hotel is excellent and the staff welcoming and friendly. Rooms are spacious and well equipped. There is a plentiful choice of food on offer for breakfast and dinner, and the golf clubhouse offfers a tasty menu of lunchtime options. Definitely hope to go back sometime.

Third visit and the service and value for money remain outstanding. The public rooms are fine, as befits a four star hotel but the spacious bedrooms are beginning to look a little tired, requiring new sofas in the junior suites and careful re-decoration. Nevertheless we paid just £714, per couple for 7 nights DBB and five days of unlimited golf, including the junior suites for four couples and airport transfers, via the excellent Your Golf Travel. The food remains first rate and the restaurant staff efficient and hard working, our favourite waitress is Isabel. The golf course was in tip-top condition and take with a pinch of salt the review which says it is too easy for anyone over 18 handicap, we four men are eleven, two twelves and a thirteen and while we all hit 34 points none of us could reach 36, ie play to handicap. The Staff in the golf shop are absolutely superb friendly and super-helpful doing everything they can to meet guests playing needs. Best buffet in Spain possibly. Be aware large groups from Scandinavia visit if you need buggies or electric trollies pre-book as there are some sizeable walks on concrete paths from greens to tees. By the way if your a none golfer and do not want quiet and seclusion stay away.

Room Tip: Worth getting a junior suite lots of room for clubs and storage

We were a group of 9, five of us women non golfers, we were there to celebrate a special birthday, so the 4 men were very happy to play the golf included in the special offer, we women on the other hand were a little disappointed, there was nothing for non golfers to do, except swim or go to the spa...... okay for a while but not for the 3 days we were there.
Don't get me wrong there is nothing wrong with the hotel it's lovely, with very nice and helpful staff, but please put something in or something for us non golfers to do.
And one other thing, there is no ATM machine there, if you want cash, you have to travel 15 mins in a car to the nearest bank, so unless you want to pay with a card take you cash with you.

Room Tip: rooms facing the front get more sun during the day
