“Excellent hotel and team, especially Andrea and Sara”
Reviewed 31 July 2014

Really enjoyed this hotel last year which had much to do with the animation team, mainly Andrea and Sara so we decided to go back. On arrival we were ecstatic that both Andrea and Sara were still there, Andrea recognised us all straight away which was impressive considering how many people they must see. They really made us welcome even though there very few English they made sure our children were included in everything. Our children, aged 9 and 6 were the only English kids in the mini and maxi club for most of the time we were there, but they made lots of Spanish friends and the animation team made sure they translated everything for them.
Fantastic to see that the hotel was still clean and well organised. Further investment has been made at the 'quiet pool' which has really enhanced the area, offering the ability to have breakfast outside as well as snacks at 11am and 4pm.
Self service beer, wine, sangria and soft drinks available from 11am to 11.30pm every day. If you wish to be served the bars in the hotel are open from 11am.
The restaurant offers a good choice of food for all meal times & the quality has improved over the last 12 months.
The pool area is spacious, kept clean and there is no clamour for sun beds which makes for a stress free start to every day!
The hotel has a broader range of Nationalities than last year with many Dutch and Swiss now using the hotel.
The rooms are comfy with daily maid service and air conditioning as well as memory foam mattresses which make for a great sleep every night! Reception staff always friendly and helpful.
Hotel is right on the beach, ideal for those that love to swim in the sea.
All in all, we enjoyed our stay last year which is why we decided to go back. As any parents know, your holiday enjoyment is reliant on your kids enjoying themselves so I cannot praise Andrea and Sara enough for the dedication and focus they show to all the kids in ensuring that they are enjoying themselves. Muchas Gracias to you both.

We have recently returned from the Roc Golf Trinidad and have nothing but compliments on the place.
Location: Perfect, on the beach which is small shingle, but does not hurt the feet like large stones and 30 second walk. Out front, selection of shops bars and restaurants.

Rooms: Large, modern and cleaned regularly. All have sea view and air con worked perfectly.

Food: Was really good with a massive selection and varied throughout the stay (hot food could have been hotter though). Always an immense selection of fresh salad, fruit and sweets. Restaurant was air-con and flies were down to a minimum.

Bars: 2 to choose from and self service in the day for pop and beer. Water was available from dispensers and were rarely empty. Not always local alcohol, could choose Smirnoff if you wanted (we did). Bars can get busy at night, but never waited more than 10 minutes.

Pools: Kids pool, main pool and what we class as the "hot" pool, which had no umbrellas. We used the main pool as the day entertainment was based around this. All clean and clear. Walking areas in good condition.

Animation & entertainment: All the animation team put in long shifts and do actually entertain. Everything is Spanish, but with English in bits, but as far as we were concerned we were in Spain, not Blackpool (or Benidorm!!). Evening entertainment was again mainly Spanish orientated, but we understood what we needed to it was not a chat show. Generally good.

Staff: Were brilliant throughout. Most spoke little English, but did not matter. In the restaurant plates were removed instantly finished. Any spills or waste were dealt with straight away either at the serving stations or the table.
Bar staff were always helpful and very efficient, reception were good, cleaners and maids also did very good jobs.
The main thing we noted from the staff is they were always happy in their work. No grumpy attitude, always helpful and generally very efficient.

Overall: Great hotel, recommend it to anyone.

Room Tip: We asked for a free upgrade as there were 2 adults and 2 teenagers. Were surprised and immensely gra...

Just returned from a week at The Golf Trinidad and what a lovely week it was too. I have stayed in Roquetas twice before, firstly at The Hesperia Sabinal and then at The Zoraida Gardens, both of which were lovely hotels and the Golf Trinidad more than matched them.

The hotel has recently been refurbished and our hotel room was decorated in creams and browns and consisted of two very large beds and some soft comfy sofa seating, spacious wardrobe space and marbled/tiled bathroom with a large shower stall and a lovely balcony which had views over the swimming pool and the Med – perfect! Rooms were cleaned every day with fresh towels and there was shower gel, hand wash and a hairdryer in the bathroom. There was also a good sized LCD TV on the wall but it only had one English Channel [BBC World News].

There are three swimming pools [two large and one small for the children], a snack bar and a pool bar, tennis court and small football pitch. Plenty of sun loungers – we never had a problem getting one even at 11.00 in the morning but if you want one with a parasol you may need to get there a bit earlier [sun loungers were very comfy as well and looked brand new!]

The real gem of this hotel I would say is the Animation Team. BIG APPLAUSE to Isabel, Andrea and Gabriel – absolutely fantastic! I have been holidaying abroad for nearly 30 years and have never seen a team work so hard and always with a big smile on their faces. They ran the Kids Club [which did something on the hour, every hour from approx. 11.00 in the morning to about 4.00 in the afternoon and finished with a Mini Disco at 9.30 p.m.] and also for the adults from 10.00 in the morning – Zumba – to 4.00 in the afternoon [water polo, darts, football, plus loads of pool games – something for every age.] They were a real credit to the hotel and really laid back, lovely people – they never pressurised you to join in either, just asked politely.

At 10.00 every night there was some sort of show – we saw a Loro Show [very talented parrots], a Wild Bird Show [eagles and owls], and a Flamenco Band to name but a few.

Restaurant was very large and always super busy but we didn’t experience any long queues apart from at the show cooking! As much as I love our Spanish compadres they have absolutely no concept of what a queue is! English waiting patiently for their fresh fried/boiled eggs, etc. – as soon as they are dished up it’s a mad scramble [pardon the pun!]. So as I have done before, when in Spain, do as the Spanish do and put your elbows to good use! Lots of different and varied meal choices and self serve hot drinks, cold drinks and beer. There was also self serve beers and soft drinks beside the pool bar – it you wanted spirits then you could get those at the bar. A few times we were actually served the proper stuff – Smirnoff and Malibu which was great – but most of the time it was cheaper brands but, to be honest, they tasted fine.

Most hotels in Roquetas are built next to the beach and have stunning views of the beautiful Med and nearly all are next to the Promenade which goes on for miles and runs the whole length of the resort [and is perfectly flat!] Nice to have a walk along there of an evening. One night we walked to the Marina [which is quite small] but there is a lovely castle next to it [Castilla de Santa Ana] which is worth a look out and just up from there is the Gran Plaza Shopping Centre which has quite a few shops [including Primark and H&M] and also McDonalds and Burger King. There’s also quite a good sports shop there akin to our Sports Direct, which has good prices. The castle is approx.. 45 minute walk and Gran Plaza about an hour. We caught the number 3 bus right outside the hotel to Gran Plaza which cost €1.3 each way and took about 20 minutes. If you do get the bus then be prepared to use your elbows again!!

There is also a small train that goes around the resort and plenty of horse drawn carriages [€20 for approximately 40 mins].

All in all we enjoyed a lovely week in Costa Almeria, the weather was fabulous and the hotel and staff were great and all just a very short flight away. Enjoy!!

p.s. Our transfer from airport to hotel was approx.. 40 minutes.

We stayed here for a week at the end of June, weather was beautiful 32 degrees with only one thunderstorm! Location of the hotel is very good, right next to the beach and plenty of bars in the surrounding area. Breakfast was the same every day, large selection of fruit, eggs, bacon etc. We had half board and ate dinner here sometimes which was nice enough, not amazing. There is a very good restaurant behind the hotel next to the beach, think it is called El Nino, we were told it was the best restaurant around and it was lovely but you have to book! Fish is very good in this area, so fresh! Staff are very friendly and helpful, would definitely recommend hiring a car and going to Cabo de Gata National Park, lots of beautiful beaches there! The bus stop is right outside the hotel that goes to Almeria City, well worth a day trip but not on a Sunday as every shop is closed! The hotel put on entertainment every night which was good and everyone speaks quite good English and if not they do their best to help you. Shame there was no fridge in the room, have to pay extra for the safe, Wifi and drinks with your meal but the room was large, had comfy beds and was cleaned daily. It's a quiet resort, the bars used to close about midnight so no crazy clubs or anything but there were always a few people in them. We had a good night out in Almeria and got a taxi back which cost us about 40 euros.

Room Tip: Ask for one with a fridge!

We stayed for 7 nights in August with our two teenage sons. the hotel and food were great. we arrived at 10.30 pm and even though the restaurant was closed they had plated up 4 generous salads plus deserts - something we weren't expecting! The rooms and the hotel in general are fine for a family holiday and the proximity to the beach is great despite the lack of sand - it's all very small stones. The Water Park at Roquetas de Mar although not overly large is well worth a visit as is the aquarium next door - stroking Rays in a tank is not to be missed!

I had booked half board for 6 nights so when I arrived I was surprised that they wanted to charge me extra for the drinks with our meal. Apart from that the rooms were clean and spacious and wehad the ones with a small kitchenette and a large fridge very nice. Food ok pool area lovely shingle beach. Staff were friendly. Overall very nice hotel.

We have stayed here for 11 nights...The location is great, right on the beach! Most of the rooms have a sea view and you will see a sunrise everyday!
Rooms were really spacious and cleaned every 2 days, but the girls often forgot to sweep the balcony, so it was a bit messy for my 1year old son to play there..:(
Food, well it could be improved!!
Breakfast really bland, same things everyday.
Lunch and dinner were better, with a variety of chicken, beef, pork, fish and vegetarian..it was just missing a bit of flavour!
The pools are really big, the water perfect!
The entertainment was great !!
Indeed. If you speak Spanish you will find it easier..:)
Overall, a good experience but it can be proved!! When that happens it will be a great hotel!
