The REAL review. Food s average, but my two children 10 and 13 years old loved it. And loved the in between meals snacks they had. Nothing but hamburgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, and fries. Service was good, but if you speak Spanish. Service is a 5 overall IF you speak Spanish. If you do not speak Spanish service is a 3 because there is a language barrier. Rooms are spacious but worn and tired. Double Beds are 150cm wide. Beach is excellent! Pool is fun and safe. Getting deck chairs is a battle every morning. Again, food is average but your children will probably be happy. It is a hectic environment full of a lot of children. However, this is a good place for a family visit. Guests are NOISY!!!! till midnight . Lots to do for kids! Hotel dominated by local Spaniards.

Room Tip: elevators take along time so pick a lower level. Stay away from pool side rooms. Too noisy.

The food was bad. Dining room small and always full. Dirt on the ground. Terrible rooms without the possibility to store things in closet. Dirty bathroom. Full pool, a few chairs and umbrellas. Hotel full of small children. Around the pool dirt. Cleaned only once a day. I am very disappointed.

Well i must really say i didnt read much about this hotel until the evening of the trip when i got shocked with all the bad reviews....so i tried to keep an open mind about it. The arrival went well with the check in made pretty quick to my surprise. I was given a room in the top floor, wich i liked because of the noise and with back view to the Gran Plaza Shopping mall. Be aware that if you stay in the middle rooms of the hotel to the East side the view is the other building who sees everything thats going on in your room...but lets proceed. The room is ok but nothing you would expect of a 4 star hotel...the furniture is degradated and in the top floor i had to call the managers of the Hotel due to an ANT! problem (yes, ants!!! in the top floor!) not once but 3 times!!! with the same way of treating the problem: bug spray! In the second time they went to my room around 23h they sprayed so much i had to wait almost one hour in the hallway to get rid of the smell in the room....from then on i noticed all the help carts had a can of bug spray....if they are making rooms why the hell they need bug spray in their karts??? As for the help...the towels in our room where changed almost every day but sometimes they "forget" to give you new ones or fold the old ones and put them back up....and nobody checks the work of the Help, they dont mop the floor even in the bathroom! Well let us proceed....the beach access is good but be aware of one very special and peculiar problema that may ruin your hollidays completly...next to the Hotel theres a Water Treatment Disposal vein that discharges DIRECTLY into the ocean and the Salinas beach making the water completly muddy and merky with smell (the Office officials/Ayuntamiento at the beach told me there was no healt azzard....still i choose to walk a couple of miles to the beach La Romanilla to avoid the problem...)...im guessing no one wants to swim in a puddle of mud anyway.... Well back to the Hotel. The pool is ok but is not for swimming since the recently added sliders wont allow it. The pool equipment is in its general degradated with old and broken chairs. The cleaning in the pool área is pratically non-existent...i saw a sandwich in a walk area by the pool for two days straight before i picked up and throw it in the trash!! Ridiculous! The animation team seemed ok but im not much into that so i wouldnt comment. Lets go to the main problem of this Hotel, the employees. First they are not professional (at all and by all means, unless you are spanish, than its a change in the subject...), second they are far from polite and kind and i often had the feeling that they where the paying costumers instead of us....you wouldt get that kind of treatmeant from the pension next door, so much in a "4 star hotel" (for those who dont know, the stars in spain are given in the creation/evaluation of the hotel and its very dificult to remove after they where given...thats why theres a lot of these 4 stars hotels with 2/3 stars servisse and are so in fashion in Spain due to the recent economic crisys). The food in the Restaurant is way far from acceptable...and please dont make the same mistake i made and go all-inclusive because thats just for show, anyway the food is uncondimented and weak almost every day ,ive been there 8 days and they served cow/beef 2 days...the other where mainly pork and stews and at one time in the grill the chef claimed he was serving Panga when it was mackerel....another thing that i came to realise was that the plates where particulary weak around the 8 to 9/9.30 o´clock when most "foreigners" go to dine....after that when the "locals" go to eat the menu changes drasticaly.
One last episode was when i went to do the checkout...since i was driving i asked if i could checkout about 5am instead of 12h because i had a lot of road to cover and they told me at the desk that no problem and if i wanted i could request a picnic to go since i wasnt having breakfast at the hotel....so i did, but not before i asked if it wasnt to early to have picnics in the lobby at that time...no problem once again i was told. At 5am i was at the lobby to checkout and no employee to be seen....then someone came up from a couch half awake...the front desk man was sleeping in the couch and had no information of the picnics request neither i was checking out at that time. Major failure since i bothered to warn not once but TWO times and the picnics where sugested by the lady that made note of that....that only show the level of responsibility that the managing of this Hotel has....NONE. Due to that i left around 6am with a couple of plastic bags with something throwned at it at chance....
Now if you ask me if i had fun....i had. The weather was excellent, the beach was good, i drove there so i could see a lot of the localities (Aguadulce, Almeria, Cabo de Gata, etc...), the Hotel is very beautiful in a colonial style inspite of degradated and i wasnt constantly annoyed by anything in particular...inspite of the ants. :)
So to finish, thanks a lot for the vacation, that didnt worth the Money i spent honestly (by a couple more € you get a lot more), and see you around....or not.

Room Tip: Go for the top West ended room!

We only booked to be with family who had pre-booked, but reviews kind of gave me an idea of the place. We booked a sea view room and had a very big bed, it must have been a queen size. My 3 year old son had a double bed in the room. The room was kept clean and of a good size too. The downside was that things were falling apart, the light blew in the bathroom and the shower head was broken. the balcony glass was broken, so we stayed away and made sure the patio was closed at all time. There are no locks on the doors front the inside, so it as very easy for my son to leave the room. We placed the bedside table in front of the patio and the hotel door to ensure he would not go walkies when we were asleep! The view from the room was amazing, and the beach front was very nice too (pay for beds yourself). The hotel food is horrible, DO not eat here, it is better to eat out. The service at the bars / restaurant is awful and staff are very moody! The pool area is really nice and is of a good size. There was water slides being erected when we was there and due to open on Fri 14/8 which is great for kids. There is a plaza (shopping) about 1 km from the hotel which has a primark and h&m, very clean and great place to eat. We also walked along the beach and you come to a very nice stretch of restaurants which are great value for money and great variety. There is loads to do on the beach, kids parks. volley ball etc.. You can go further down the beach where you get to a more touristy area. Loads of little parks for kids and eat out areas. Its a shame the hotel let the whole experience down!!

Dear guest,
Thank you for your comments. We want to apologise if the serve given by our staff wasn’t as you expected. Sometimes the language makes a big barrier. About the food, everyday we offer a big variety of dishes and recipes. For sure everyone can find something nice to eat. We are glad you find Roquetas such a good place to enjoy your holidays.
best regards,

We were the only English people there and other than 3 of the bar staff who appreciated that we tried to speak the language, all of the other guests were served before us! Very basic rooms and no one was really very friendly. Because of the air conditioning in the restaurant, the food was mainly cold. The hotel was situated in the middle of nowhere. Reception staff were very good though and the bed was super comfortable. Still wouldn't go again if you paid me!
