We based our walking group at the Hotel Almud for a week and were delighted with our choice. The building is remarkable and intriguing. The interior design is truly beautiful. Maria-Jose is a wonderful hostess and extremely helpful. Our only sadness is that the hotel was not serving dinners whilst we were there - we would have enjoyed dining in the wonderful room in which we lingered over some splendid breakfasts

Ive traveled all over and Hotel Almud has the BEST hosts! Maria is amazing and the hotel is filled with character and charm. Also, the hotel is extremely clean, and I have high expectations for this. Breakfast is delicious and there was nothing missing from this stay. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!

I spent 2 very pleasant nights in a clean, quiet, and beautifully decorated room with a wonderful view of the lake and village. Mario, as chef, is top-notch; I ate like a queen. I will most definately stay there again, for a much longer time.

We stayed at this wonderful little hotel for two nights and couldn't have been more pleased. It is very much a warm and cozy ski resort-type inn. We had a quaint but small room on the third floor with a wonderful view (although a little warm with our hot weather.) Breakfast and dinners are extras but none of the meals were disappointing - the chef is the innkeep and a great cook! He has a vegetable garden on the property!
Our motorcycle had mechanical and the manager was most help in providing a battery charger and finding us a local mechanic, especially since we didn't speak Spanish. Both he and his wife were wonderful hosts.
We definitely felt right at home!

Room Tip: Top floor rooms are hotter in summer.

From the moment we arrived we had an excellent experience, mainly because the owners have a genuinely caring and hospitable approach. A small example was that I had asked to have a specific room, because the photos on the internet looked great. I knew it was in the eaves, and as we approached the house on a baking hot afternoon I realised that this could have been a mistake as it was likely to be pretty warm up there. Nothing to be done- but in fact when we checked in the owner said that she wanted to show us other rooms- we were welcome to have the one we'd chosen but she was worried we might find it too hot. So we had a different one, very nice too. We ate in the hotel on the first night and this was a very good, simple but carefully prepared home made meal, reasonably priced and with good choice of wines. The owners gave some excellent advice about where to find things we needed, and for activities during our stay. Great recommendation for lunch at the Suscalar, a place about ten minutes' walk from the town, where they hire out boats but also have an excellent bar restaurant with a terrace overlooking the lake. In all sorts of small ways this couple put themselves out to give us a great stay and I would thoroughly recommend this hotel.
