“Wedding stop over”
Reviewed 14 September 2013

The welcome to the hotel was very good. I found the dark glass building of the hotel very off putting, the stair case up to the first floor and the bedroom was also very dark. The restaurant was unable to deal with a large party very easily. The price of a bottle of wine in the bar was almost double of that in the restaurant and a glass was £10. The beer was very good and well kept.

Just back from this hotel after 2 night stay, lovely modern hotel but limited for restaurants. My room was warm and comfortable, no view but that was ok. No bath but the wetroom style shower was great. The pool was closed but they offered nearby facilities. Check in was quick and friendly. Bar meal was very average, restaurant meal was much better and good value. Breakfast was standard. This hotel was clean, comfortable and convenient for my trip but would not choose it for a weekend break.

Room Tip: Have been told higher rooms are better but mine on first floor was fine, quiet despite being close t...

This is a really fantastic hotel with some great amenities, including the gym and the sauna, spa pool, steam room etc.

We found the staff to be very helpful and attentive, and just what you would expect from a De Vere hotel.

The rooms were spotless, and considering its location, it was extremely quiet.

We would definitely stay there again on our trips to the North of England.

The hotel itself is comfortable. The rooms are spacious and very clean. Upgraded to the upper deck rooms and they are well worth the money I believe.
The gym complex is good. There is a small ladies only gym as well as a large main gym with plenty of equipment. I didn't use the pool although it looked nice enough. The opening hours of the gym are good too. 630am to 10pm during the week.
The food is also very nice. It is disappointing however that firstly room service does not start until 6pm. Also you cannot have drinks sent up to your room.

the hotel does not have much around it and the transport links are not open at this time makes it very difficult to get into the city centre.

Firstly I would like to say I cannot rate the hotel, because we only saw the reception area. From there we was told we was in a marquee at the side of the hotel, had we have known this we would not have come. The ladies toilets was three Porto cabins for I would at a guess say around 250/ 300 ladies maybe more. What a surprise we got, from start to finish it was a disgrace . We had paid £25 a head to be greeted with a drink on arrival ( which we did not get) . They showed the hen to her table the rest just had to guess where we was suppose to sit? We was not told what we was eating or the choices we had until the waiters/ waitresses was bringing out the food and taking it to random tables, in no sort of order it was chaotic. The make shift floor that was down did not feel very sturdy to walk across. If this is What The Village in Ashton is calling an ultimate hen night , I would call it total chaos. I will not going back.

Went to Xmas party here. We had a good night , food typical of being mass produced . We chose to stay rather than get a taxi and despite most guests having consumed alcohol we had a relatively quiet night, sleeping well. The breakfast was good and ample choice.

The hotel is quite nicely crafted with very modern boutique decor. But it just misses service and some soul. The only staff that can be seen are the two ladies at the reception. In a nutshell the hotel is trying to be Malmaison but behaves like Travelodge.

For the amount being charged, I would expect a selection of toiletries, bathrobes and bath slippers; but none were to be found. Also its quite odd not to have wardrobes in the room. You are meant to leave your bags on top of dressing table like bag counter. Not to mention the room feels very dark and small, even during day time.
