Just saw this place while driving up the A6 from Lancaster and wanted somewhere to stay for the night. Was not disappointed. We were welcomed very warmly, and given a choice of rooms, and the 1 we chose on the 2nd floor of the lodge was nice and quiet and very spacious.
We also decided to eat in the hotels restaurant and this was very good food, although somewhat filling, meaning we only had the main course
Thought the place would be noisy near the crossroads in the town, but this was not the case and we did get a good nights sleep

Like most places we came across in the UK this hotel was nice but could do with a renovation. The room itself (family room for 2 adults and 3 children) was spacious and well set out. The room was in an annex away from the pub. The food and service in the pub was excellent and the entire place seemed family friendly. We chose the hotel on price but found it close enough to the Lakes District to avoid long drives.

Nice rooms on par with more expensive hotel chains.
Great service and good well priced food served in the pub.
Helpful and polite owner, only let down slightly by an unhappy waitress. Would stay again

Had to stay the area through work and the hotel was the most convenient for the office and site.
Staff very accomodating and nothing was too much bother, including the room maid. The first week I chose the full English Breakfast and found that whilst it was exceptionally cooked it was too much so early in the morning. This would obviously suit the folk with healthy appetites. The evening menu was comprehensive and very good value for money.
Rooms were clean and well maintained with good wifi and very good shower/bath. Beds were comfortable and room coffee facilities well stocked.
My stay was made more pleasant thanks to this hotel. A credit to Carnforth.

Room Tip: The family room is exceptional. Large spacious and comfortable

Staff very efficient and helpful. Made welcome and nothing a bother. Cooked breakfast good, continental could bee improved. Double bed hard, good hot shower, room private and clean. Ordered sandwiches ready for a late arrival, no problem.

Room Tip: All rooms in lodge

A two night stay began badly and very quickly got worse! I arrived at 2115 where I enquired about an evening meal to be told the restaurant closed at 2045 and there were no room service available.

On retiring and pulling back the sheets of the bed I saw balls of grey fluff on the sheets and on closer inspection the sheets were stained sweat yellow and the bed had that slept in odour, these sheets had not been changed from he previous occupier. Fortunately the other bed was fine and that's where I slept, being so tired I decided I would mention it in the morning.

The next day at 0735 I went down for breakfast and stood next to the sign adjacent to the reception which said, "wait here to be seated" After 5 minutes I wrang the reception bell! After another couple of minutes I wrang the bell again, after 15 minutes I had really ran at of time and had to get my kit together and leave for business. On leaving I went to the reception, which was staffed by this time and voiced my opinion. The receptionist was vey rude and offered no explanation or even an apology.

The room telephone does not have a directory.

The wifi did not work.

The only plus I have is: The room does have a good brew kit with plenty of milk.

Room Tip: Look for another hotel
