Visited today for Mother's Day and it was their AGA carvery. I normally dislike carvery meals because they are too ordinary and easy to knock up at home. The Punchbowl Inn, however, has completely reversed ny opinion. The meal was perfect. Plenty of luscious meat, tasty and fresh vegetables, yorkies like my mother used to make and thick homemade gravy. It was gorgeous. We followed this with the cheeseboard which was incredible value. The atmosphere at the Punchbowl was fabulous. We didn't feel rushed and the service was spot on. All in all, a dining experience we loved and we intend to return again and again.....

Dear Trip Advisor Member,

Many thanks for taking the time to write a lovely review on our AGA carvery, the positive feedback in recent months has been amazing and trade is increasing, we are proud to be the first ever venue to create this dining concept and we are delighted with the results and positive feedback.

Well we shall take your review as a massive compliment that you have changed your views on carveries, our carvery is extra special as we do cook it in our AGA.

We look forward to welcoming you again and thanks for a great review

Despite the terrible music playing whilst we ate, despite the awful pictures on the wall, despite the loud wallpaper, despite the fact that that menu referred to us as 'punters' and claimed that the owners were 'in the catering game'(!) the place was exactly what we expected and, perhaps, more so. The food was really excellent, we're both vegetarians and they catered for us even at the carvery. They make little noise about this and really should heighten the fact that the vegetarian food is excellent, especially as the term 'Carvery' may put off most non-carnivores. Service was good (though those slate table-mats need a bit of a scrub!) and the price well below what one might have expected. The verbose menu is funny (not meant to be) and we left fully satisfied. Before going I read the poorest reviewsof the place and was relieved to find that they had been written by the sort of nincompoops found in Fawlty Towers alone. Ignore them, this place is really good.

Dear Trip Advisor Member,

Thanks for a quirky but great review, we are delighted that the food met your expectations, I must admit we have never really highlighted 'Veggie' dishes we offer homemade classic veggie dishes complimented with carvery vegetables or side orders from our menu.

I am sorry you found the decor and music below your personal standard, I am not sure what to say on this? I suppose anyone's taste is different.... I like it though ;)

In terms of the slate mats, we do get comments on this regularly, they are not dirty it is the natural marks in the slate and on some of the slate mats they are worse, I do agree it makes to want to scrub them but this is a natural part of the slate. (If i knew this before purchase I would have reviewed other table mats)

Your last paragraph made the whole team cry of laughter, it's got be one of the best reviews we have read and has restored some faith in Trip Advisor as we are not fans of this public forum as we dont promote TA on any of our marketing or in house.

Once again thanks for a great review we hope you consider using Ye Olde Punchbowl Inn again when in Shropshire

We stayed at The Punch Bowl whilst visiting family. From the moment we arrived we could not be made more welcome Both the owner and staff we're very helpful and we felt like nothing would be too much trouble.

We both have very busy lives and it was just lovely relaxing with a drink next to the crackling log fire with no-one around but "JD" the resident chocolate lab who kept us thoroughly entertained (the inn was closed in between mealtimes).

We checked in our room and it was just lovely. Exceptionally clean with a complimentary drinks fridge stocked with soft drinks which was a great surprise. It was also equipped with tea and coffee facilities. The bathroom again spotless with complementary soaps etc but also and had luxury extras you would find in a top quality London hotel including toothbrush (which was a blessing as we had forgotten ours), sewing kit, shower cap and travel razor etc.

After a night out we came back to a toasty warm room and the bed was lovely and comfy.

Breakfast was literally a foodie heaven with cereal to start and the biggest freshly cooked plate of sausage, egg, bacon, beans, black-pudding, fried bread, toast tomatoes and lashings of tea. I just wish I could of eaten it all.

Overall we had a lovely stay and the Punch Bowl offers exceptional value for money. We will definitely stay again and cannot recommend enough.

My better half and I stayed for two nights at The Punchbowl Inn in Bridgnorth just before Christmas for a relaxing getaway to belatedly celebrate our anniversary. We enjoyed a fantastic stay.

Our accommodation was spotlessly clean, extremely comfortable and spacious with lots of character. This included a sitting room with sofa and flat screen TV, a large bathroom with a shower and large bath, bedroom with large comfortable bed, dressing table and another flat screen TV as well as tea/coffee facilities. Well heated room too.

They provided a mini fridge in the room full of FREE refreshments which was re-stocked daily. There was also lots of useful bits and pieces in the bathroom (far more than anywhere else I've stayed).

We enjoyed a carvery dinner in the tastefully decorated restaurant. The food was great and certainly filled a hole. We were delighted to find out that food was available via room service for no extra charge and so we made the most of this including breakfast in bed both days. Breakfast was delicious with lots of choice and came with complementary cereal and toast, jam, tea/coffee, fruit juice etc. Breakfast as well as any room service was delivered to our room promptly and on time.

The Punchbowl Inn is in good location. I would recommend a visit to the Victorian town Blists Hill for a fun and interesting day out (only 10 minute drive from The Punchbowl Inn).

We received a warm welcome upon arrival and fantastic service by every member of their team throughout our stay and found our stay to be amazing value. We would definitely stay again. Thanks Punchbowl!!!!

P.s. Sorry for taking room key home with me (room 3). I trust you received it in the post a few days later?

Room Tip: We stayed in room 3. Fantastic room with great facilities. Next to the road though.

On the 29th of June I got married, we had our reception here at the Punchbowl. We had our own organiser Charlotte who did an excellent job, with good communication and advice, we were able to go into the room and arrange the tables with flowers and set up where people where going to sit the day before. There is a good choice of menus catering for all, we had a guest with a nut allergy and this was catered for with out a problem.
We opted for the world cuisine buffet, this different foods from around the world from curries to Chinese, American and English food. There was more than enough to go round and every one had plenty to eat.
There was the option of the in house DJ or you can get your own.
We stayed the night there and had a lovely room and a superb breakfast the morning after.
They also do wonderful carvery there.
I would like to thank Adam, Charlotte and the staff at the punchbowl for a wonderful day.
