Went to bridgnorth today, found a pub called the swan. Ordered food at 2pm. 245 waiter walks past with a fish meal n a steak meal...he walks round with food aimlessly.so i ask if its for table 7 & he said yes. 15 mins later my wife was waiting for the sauce for her steak but had pretty much ate her meal. I had asked for the sauce n the waiter disappeared for ages. At this point i was very annoyed so i asked to speak to the manager. I was told he was too busy. So i DEMANDED to see him. During my complaint about the wait, the manager told me the food wasn't even ours. He said cos of it being a bank holiday they were busy & they had a lot of ppl in the garden to serve. Think he meant He couldn't cope. So we got a refund for food.

Visited for dinner during a canoe trip along the nearby River Severn. Restaurant review only.

From the exterior this is one of those places where you're not quite sure what you're going to get. Luckily we were pleasantly surprised.

The food was very good, and the (new) owners were amazingly friendly (even inviting us back the next morning for breakfast). When we visited (September 2012) they had only just taken over so I'd imagine the place is even better now.

There's lots of space inside, and a lovely conservatory with excellent views over the Severn Valley.

Definitely recommended if in the area. I hope to make a trip back one day soon.

Recent management changes include a new menu.

Good food and excellent service, but some of the changes to the menu provide a different level of food i.e. from restaurant to more of a pub type - chips were chunky which was nice but instead of freshly made they were obviously from frozen, wheras for a little more effort they would have been very enjoyable.

On the whole this restaurant, with its enthusiastic and professional management approach, shows great promise and really deserves a few repeat visits to see how it develops.

Bridgnorth is an attractive town on the banks of the River Severn. We visit it from time to time to wander round the shops and along the river.
On a recent trip we again had lunch in The Swan, situated in the High Street. We were greeted by a friendly young lady who could barely see over the top of the counter. Unfortunately two of the taps at the bar were empty, one for beer, the other for cider. We settled for second choice beers.
Our young lady took our order for their shared Nachos starters and two lasagnes. Both arrived promptly, delivered by, yes, the same young lady. The nachos were interesting and very tasty as were the lasagnes which were nicely presented (BEWARE, the lasagne was very hot!)
Good value for money but two criticisms. The room is rather gloomy and the music was too loud.
Overall,though, very good.
P.S. Give the young lady a bonus. She was very attentive and an asset to the establishment.

The new management team did everything they could to make us welcome and all the meals served to our party of 10 adults over the 2 days we stayed, were of excellent quality, beautifully presented and piping hot. We elected to have an evening meal and were glad we did! Yes, there are things that need attending to, e.g., radiators in restaurant and a proper shower fitment/rail needed in Bedroom 4, but bedrooms and bathrooms were spotless. The Swan is well placed for touring all the Ironbridge attractions and we wish the owners every success in their business.
