Description: A delightful Victorean inspired licensed tea room with a beautiful garden terrace and glorious views over the River Severn and Low Town. Serving light lunches, morning and afternoon tea seven days a week (Please note that we only use fresh ingredients delivered daily, therefore it is always best to book at least 24hrs in advance for Afternoon Teas to avoid disappointment. Due to the unique nature and quaint charm of our property our kitchen is very small and this may cause delays during busy periods however we will make sure that it was worth the wait!! You can watch the Cliff Railway operating and see the winding house for the railway in action from the tea rooms. We offer exceptional service and food made fresh on the premises using local ingredients, make this place a must see on a visit to Bridgnorth.

“Fantastic afternoon tea”
Reviewed 26 August 2014

WE had a selection of sandwiches, scones, jam and cream and cakes and the most amazing choice of teas imaginable. Even of more interest was the big glass window from the tea rooms looking into the machinery responsible for winding the funicular up and down the hill (hence its name of winding house tea rooms). Lots of historical and interesting information is displayed.

“Best of Bridgnorth”
Reviewed 25 August 2014

Its great when you visit a town and find a little gem!...This happened to us today with a visit to the Winding House, Set up a quaint little street next to the Funicular Railway in high town we were greeted by friendly and attentive staff & treated to an Afternoon Tea that exceeded our "BEST SO FAR" afternoon tea.
A vast array of tasty filled sandwiches/cakes and the best home made scones I've ever had kept us quiet while we tasted from an amazing list of over 30 Teas.
Its nice when you find a place like this that just pushes the boundaries of quality of produce and customer service. Well done to the owners & staff of this priceless little business for what could be "The best ever Afternoon Tea!...We will be back...(ooh and the little chocolates were an added treat)

“Great Little Tea Room”
Reviewed 25 August 2014

The steep staircase down to the tea room is worth the effort. Great cakes and scones and wonderful garden terrace area overlooking the river and low town. Best tea room in Bridgnorth.

“Day Trip”
Reviewed 19 August 2014

A lovely tea room set on different levels overlooking the river Severn. We ordered the 'cream tea', which was offered with a selection of scones and served with clotted cream and jam. We chose coffee over tea, but they offered a vast menu of 'leaf' teas.
Staff where very friendly and efficient.
The atmosphere was 'Charming'.
