Great food, always made to feel welcome. Great value for money. Booking essential. The Pub has a good atmosphere and keeps superb beer (Doombar) and cider (Stowford Press).

Whilst on holiday in the area we spent a day in the Iron Bridge Gorge we where planning on eating in one of the pubs by the river but after advice from a very friendly lady in one of the museums decided against this as she said they were either overpriced or poor quality. We were staying near Kidderminster so decided to head back and find something en route. My wife checked out Bridgnorth on trip advisor while I drove and found this place, as it seemed to have a good ratio between good and poor ratings we decided to give it a go.

We arrived about 5-30 to find that they didn't start serving food until 6-30, this was a bit of a disappointment as our 20month old was getting hungry. The guy at the bar said that if we were planning on eating it would be best to book a table, this advice was followed and we booked one for 6-30 and went for a walk. Bridgnorth is a lovely place, you should visit.....

Anyway when we went back the menu had plenty of choice but without the chain pub vastness. Good veggie options for our daughter and a reasonable kids menu. The only slight complaint is that the food did take over an hour to arrive but they were very busy and when it did arrive it was obvious that it had been cooked to order and not microwaved from frozen. Wife had a Stake and Stilton pie which 1 almost filled the plate and 2 was very tasty I went for the mixed grill which was made from all locally sourced meat and very nice daughter loved her veggie dish and little lad troughed his way through his pasta with cheese and broccoli.

Felt very full afterwards, my daughter opted for a pud, again this took an age to arrive and in the end I had to ask if it could be brought out as little one was starting to get very bored. The beer garden had a number of kiddie toys to keep him happy and the high chairs were clean.

Total for the evening including 3 beers, 2 Juices 3 mains 1 kids and 1 pud was £55, very reasonable I thought. The staff are friendly and helpful, the decor is, well pub like but we like it like that, the beer garden and toys were nice and we left with full tummys and a happy experience.

Don't visit if you want table service and attentive waiting staff, DO visit if you want really good pub grub and a relaxed night out.

Went for first time last night. We both had scampi, a big plateful of food arrived. Nice to have a decent size salad instead of just a bit of garnish. Hubbie liked that he could sample the beer before ordering a pint. Disappointed that onion rings are pre bought frozen ones. Will be back again soon, thanks.
