“Oodles of Atmosphere!”

There is an abundance of love in the painstakingly detailed restoration of this jewel in Salop.
Do not fail to spend some time in the glorious tiny church.
All the hall needs now is an equally careful completion or creation of sympathetic surroundings;namely, plantings to the rear of the hall.

“A historical gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 January 2014

Our visit to Upton Cressett Hall was hugely rewarding. Seldom have I seen such sympathetic and tasteful redecoration of a historical property. Elizabethan Houses are very tricky to 'modernise' and this was the best I have seen. The attention to detail was second to none, with hand painted mural and fantastic fabrics. Our host was extremely well informed and helpful and we felt extremely well looked after.

“Upton Cresset Hall”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 September 2013

We visited Upton Cressett Hall on a sunny Sunday afternoon at the beginning of September. We drove up a small country road and when we reached the top a of the hill we were greeted by a very impressive Elizabethen gate house and behind swhich stood the magnificent Upton Cressett hall. We had a blissfull stroll around the charming gardens and were particulary taken with the grade 1 Norman church we wondered into. Having explored the gardens and been for a good walk in the surrounding lanes we then had a tour of the gate house by Upton Cressetts owener. He was utterly charming and so entusiastic and knowledgeable about its history along with the important guests the gate house has hosted (more recently margaret Thatcher) that it was a thouroughly enjoyable tour. The gate house was very tastefully decorated with all the modern creature comforts as it can be rented by individuals looking for a break in the country. Definitely worth bearing in mind. The main house did not disappoint either; The dining room walls and ceiling are all hand painted, the master bedroom has all the original oak panelling, and there are beautiful works of art scattered around the house.
We then rounded off our blissful day at Upton Cressett with a delicious slice of lemon cake washed down with some tea.
I recommend you pay a visit if you have not already!

“Must visit!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 September 2013

Who knew one can spend a magical day with kids in Shropshire at a historic house?! The owner is hysterical, quintessentially English and REALLY passionate about Upton Cressett Hall and children! Kids are welcome, come for free and end up actually learning something about British history. Seriously amazing restoration and can only dream of sleeping in the very grand blue bed!
#mustvisit even if it's raining! Tea is delicious too!
Gatehouse available for rent and you can even stay in Margaret Thatcher"s room! Will definitely go back...

“A Memorable Day Out”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 September 2013

Having read the article in the daily mail and read some of the reviews on trip advisor I thought it would be amusing to check this place out as I was staying in the area for a wedding. It was quite along way up the track and there was not much signing but once I go there is was really quite idillic. We were rather early for the 2.30 tour but were greeted with a smile and told to walk round the gardens and to take a look at the norman church witch is a charming example of early English Romanesque with a beautiful font and murals it was an unexpected delight. We were lucky enough to have the owner as the tour guide which was interesting and colourful. We ended with a long tea in the rose garden with delicious home made cakes and all in all it was a rather eccentric but unmissable and quintessentially English - it was a memorable day out !
