We recently stayed at the Kingswood, having previously stayed further up the coast at Anstruther, as we wanted a couple of days within easy access of Edinburgh. This proved ideal, as Burntisland station is about five minutes along the road, with Edinburgh being a 40 minute train ride away along the picturesque coastal route. The hotel is attractive, painted white with gardens and a conservatory, and we received a warm welcome. Our room had a balcony with sea view, and on a good day it's possible to see the Royal Yacht at Leith. We had a four poster bed, which was very comfortable, and the bathroom had obviously been refurbished recently - all was spotlessly clean. We ate in the in the restaurant both nights, and found the food excellent. I am a particular fan of Clam Chowder, and this was very good indeed, as was the rest of the food we tasted. Breakfast was also to be recommended. The hotel decor seems a bit of a mish-mash of styles, and could do with updating, and If you want a flashy boutique hotel, it's not for you. However if you want somewhere which is comfortable, homely, clean and friendly with good food and caring staff then you'll love it. We did.

Room Tip: Room with balcony and seaview is really nice

We had a lovely night in a four poster room with balcony. The room and bathroom were spotless. We were dinner bed and breakfast and everything we had was tasty and piping hot., the steak were a treat :) The staff and very friendly and professional and the gift shop was a real find - lovely and very reasonably priced. The hotel restaurant seems to be popular with its set price 2 course meals which are excellent value. Well worth a visit !

Coming all the way from Australia, the week long stay to Scotland needed to be somewhere homely & central to some of the outstanding places to visit, all being within a short distance from the location.. The Kingswood Hotel offered us everything, Booking in at reception & the friendly warm welcome, we immediately knew we had made the right decision. The room was a good size, light, warm & welcoming, the view across the Firth Estuary to Edinburgh was amazing. We slept really well, the bed was extremely comfortable with extra blankets & pillows available. We opted for full board & was not disappointed. The breakfast menu had a good selection & was served by friendly & informative staff. a simple question of "what are you doing today" was perfect during the serving of the meal, as the staff came up with a comprehensive list of "things to do". Their Local knowledge proved to be a blessing, the Historic Royal Palaces,Castles & country walks were fantastic & have left us with wonderful lasting memories. In the evenings, it was wonderful to reflect on the days events whilst seated in the lovely Restaurant deciding over the excellent Dinner Menu. The Kingswood has a great Chef, the food was "truly yummy". The chats with the Hotel Owners & staff was something that made us feel " really special". Being so far from home, this was just what we wanted, Excellent Value, great food, friendly & helpful staff, great location. We will defiantly come back again & will highly recommend this "Scottish Gem" to our Aussie friends. Well done to the Kingswood Hotel !!.

Room Tip: All front facing rooms have the Great views over the Estuary, some have private balconies.

Although the hotel was friendly, very clean and value for money, it just wasn't for us. The biggest problem the fact not only was there a road, but a railway line outside the front of the hotel. We didn't sleep very well at all as we had to open the window as the heating was on so high. Our friends slept better as they had a room on the back, but had a very uninspiring view over the bins etc. The fact we didn't sleep, spoilt what would have been a positive experience. The hotel does seem popular with locals who seem to love the "high tea".

Thank you for your comments regarding your stay with us in February,we were very sorry to hear that you did not sleep particularly well. During the cold winter months in order to try and ensure our guests are comfortable the bedroom heating wasindeed on constantly, however all of the bedroom radiators are thermostatically controlled and can therefor be turned down or off by guests who prefer a cooler environment.
We were a little puzzled by your comments about the bins as it is impossible to see our bin cage from any of the guest bedrooms.

My partner and I had never been here despite only living 15 minutes away. When arriving we were greeted by friendly staff and were taken to our seats. We were not rushed into ordering and were given plenty of choice in the menu. We got the high tea including the carvery. This was gorgeous. It came with toast and tea.
When our meals arrived, the meat was tender and flavourful. We were not interupted during our meal and staff were willing to help in any way possible.
The selection of cakes was impressive and tasted lovely.
We will definetly be back again, a hidden gem that I never knew existed. Excellent value for money and great customer service. Well done!!

The hotel is well situated for views across the Firth of Forth but some distance from the town of Burntisland. The staff were always friendly and helpful and although the accommodaion was basic, the rooms were clean throughout. The breakfasts were unimaginative, but the evening meals represented good value for mone.

I should have written this earlier to be honest as I have had some experience with this hotel over the last few years and have found them, well what can I say excellent. As a family we have arranged birthday parties at this venue and they have accommodated our every need and even went over them.
My wife and I have stopped in for lunch on occasion and have found them so accommodating and the food is just excellent. We popped in yesterday with my mother, who is 84 and struggles to walk and asked if we could have Sunday lunch. We hadn't booked and were quite prepared for them to say sorry we are full. The place looked very busy indeed. However they checked and said we can fit you in and within seconds we were sitting at a lovely table with views of the forth and Edinburgh and had a fantastic meal.
It was the carvery that was on and the selection was marvellous. I have never seen my 84 year old mother eat so much as she polished off her plate of roast gammon and then finished a dessert.
I would highly recommend this venue, the staff are also amazing, friendly and professional.
