Located on the edge of Dingwall, high up on a hill overlooking the Cromarty Firth, the town itself and the surrounding hilly farmland, Knockbain House is in an enviable position with beautiful views. The hosts are very welcoming, ready with a pot of tea or a gin and tonic when you come in at the end of the day. The room we stayed in was clean, large and comfortably furnished with quality bed linen etc. The ensuite was clean and spacious. The hosts invite you to make use of a large sitting room that features many family effects including portraits of some of their notable relatives from previous generations. The sitting room has a warming fire and huge picture windows that allow magnificent views of the lights of Dingwall at night. For breakfast we were offered some interesting choices including scrambled eggs with smoked salmon. All in all Knockbain House is an excelent B & B to stay at offering good value and above average accommodation.
