Based on Kildun's web page & 2 excellent trip adviser reviews we booked for 4 nights in anticipation of a restful farmstay B&B just outside Inverness. We have often stayed at properties close to, or on, A roads and never had a problem with noise either because the traffic is light or long farm roads. Imagine our dismay, on arrival, when we discovered our west facing bedroom was overlooking what appears to have become a popoular Inverness bypass for cars and trucks 24/7! As the room was hot Alisdair suggested opening the French door which meant there was no double glazing to numb the constant traffic roar.
The bedroom and bathroom were modern, very clean, and beautifully furnished but there was hardly any drawer space and hanging space was a coat rack on wheels with 3 hangers making it a challenge for international travellers such as ourselves.
Having shut the windows we were subsequently woken by the roar of the hot water heat pump coming on as the guests in an ajacent room had a late shower. The next morning obviously all 4 guests were trying to shower at the same time and there was no hot water left in the system for my husband!
When we complained about the traffic, Gill said no one else had ever mentioned it (astonishing!) plus there should have been plenty of hot water (well, there wasn't) . We decided to ware the one night cancellation charge and pack up and leave ASAP and find somewhere more in keeping with what we normally both expect and enjoy when staying at bed and breakfasts. It gives me no pleasure to write this bad review as the owners seemed lovely and genuinely perlexed but it was not the quiet rural stay we expected and hot water is a must!
