I don't often take the trouble to report on hotels I stay at, but this hotel is special. The location is peaceful and ideal for touring the Black Isle and the Inverness area generally. THe hotel is warm and comfortable and spotlessly clean. The proprietors and staff are welcoming, informal and friendly and always willing to help. The food is really outstanding - fresh local produce beautifully cooked and presented. The rates represent excellent value.

This hotel has a stunning outlook over the Cromarty Firth and is in a peaceful setting. It is well placed for touring the Black Isle and surrounding area.
The service from all members of staff was friendly and of a high standard.
The room was very well provided for, with all necessary amenities, including tea/coffee facilities and hairdryer.
The beds were comfortable and offered a good night 's sleep.
The hotel has an ambience of a homely country house.
As to the food - the steaks were to die for and everything else was beautifully cooked and presented.
In all an excellent venue.

We stumbled upon this by chance online - we were just looking for somewhere within handy travelling distance of Inverness and Drumnadrochit, which would accept our elderly dog as well as us. We had mentioned when booking that we would be getting married the day before our stay, but that this was not our honeymoon. We arrived to find we had been put in the honeymoon suite - a lovely spacious bedroom with giant comfy bed and french doors onto a deck area, lots of storage space and a huge bathroom with luxurious shower and jacuzzi bath. It was all so much nicer than we'd expected from the very reasonable price that we decided to change our plans and eat in the hotel that evening. The food was very good, particularly the steak and a delicious dessert (orange panacotta with a baked fig) and the staff were friendly and efficient. Our DB&B cost us half of what we have sometimes paid for accommodation, food and service of a lower standard. The only minor drawback with the honeymoon suite was that it is above the kitchen area and you could hear some working noise late on as staff cleared up after dinner. Overall though, we would highly recommend this hotel and we will certainly be returning.

This is my favourite place to eat, the food is alway fabulous, the location perfect and the staff pleasant and helpful, can't wait to go back, the only slight comment is please get new dining room chairs (they need replacing) , but this is only a minor fault and don't let that put you off going.

We arrived late and left early, so didnt make the most of the Kinkell house. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom new, with a great shower, and the staff friendly and helpful. It is less than 15 mins from Inverness, so a good option if you are visiting the region but would prefer to stay our in the countryside.

This hotel was our find of 2009! It's located in the countryside with only about 7 bedrooms but it has an excellent kitchen and a veritable myriad of public rooms. It's a converted farmhouse and a great place from which to see the North and North East of Scotland.
We had a fine room with stunning views and the restaurant offered excellent food and fine wines - try the Santa Ema Cabernet Sauvignon from Chile.
At times the hotel staff were a bit elusive but that added to the character - the hotel was very clean throughout and both the manager and owner could not have been more helpful.
Give it a try!!
