Spent a weekend here accompanying a friend who had came to the area to snowboard, we arrived late evening had a quick shower and change then downstairs for a drink before bed,the hotel has two bars, the first I thought was more suited to families with a large room a dj playing music and one or two of the guests having a go at singing themselves, after a short while we made our way through to the smaller room which had a few of the local people drinking and one or two colourful characters! Most definitely not suited for families but still very friendly people. The room I had was en suite, very spacious and clean, breakfast in the morning was very adequate traditional English breakfast with choice of continental also, the dining room was lovely and the hotel had a lot of character, the staff were always friendly and helpful.

This is the second big event I have hosted at this Hotel. They handled the first big (Scottish Themed) dinner dance so well that I was delighted and confident to go back there for my "surprise wedding". The first event is still being talked about by guests and the hotel went the extra mile with piping in the haggis and the whole Robbie Burns bit. A fantastic party! The second event -well that will be pretty unforgettable too! 90(ish) guests thought they were coming to my 40th birthday party, but with a lot of help from the hotel staff (Kelly in particular), we planned a wedding instead to surprise and delight our friends and family. The staff worked so hard to make it a seamless event and managed to keep it all a big secret. A very friendly place to go, great value, nice staff, fantastic atmosphere. OK so the hotel could do with a lick of paint, but the buildings character more than makes up for that. Real fires, extremely warm rooms and piping hot water, topped up by friendly and helpful staff with good food. We will be back as no doubt will many of our guests as they all thought the place was great too!

Dear Claire, Thank you for taking the time to post a review about your recent "Birthday/Wedding" at the hotel and thank you more importantly for chosing and trusting us, and especially Kelly, with such an amazing day and great surprise! We are glad that it all went so well for you both and it as such a pleasure to have been a part of it all. We would welcome you both, and your family and friends, back with open arms. Best wishes for a happy future. Kindest regards.

This hotel has friendly staff from what I have experienced. It is a good place to stay in the area if you are looking for a cheap and clean basic hotel. The common areas on the hotel are nice enough and you can get a beer and some banter with the locals in the bar area. The whole place could do with being upgraded but it does exactly what it says on the tin. The breakfast is buffet style and there is loads of it which is great.

Thank you very much for spending a few minutes to review the hotel, we do appreciate the feedback. The hotel is over 100 years old and, although modernised and refurbished in many areas, we still have a rolling programme in place to continue this. I am so pleased to hear you enjoyed the breakfast. Once again many thanks for your time. Kind regards

This is our 2nd visit to "Nethybridge" and we'll return again! Our 4 day DBB rate was £119 per person and is excellent value. The choice of menu is very good and the quantity and quality of the food takes a lot of beating. The rooms are lovely and clean with central heating. The views from the front facing windows are exceptional. Both, in the lounge and reception area, are coal fires in addition to central heating, making a truly warming feeling. If a games room is your thing, then there are two full size snooker tables and a pool table in the adjoining public bar. The staff are most helpful and should you have a problem with any part of the running of the hotel, Manager, Robert is most approachable and will ensure that all will be corrected. With adequate car parking and beautiful setting, I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a quiet break away, at a reasonable price.

Bryan Blackmore.

Dear Bryan, many thanks for taking the time to post such a detailed and pleasant review. I am delighted to read that you enjoyed your recent stay and in particular the praise given to the staff and the Manager, Robert, in accommodating all your needs and requirements. I am also pleased to note that you booked on one of our special DB&B packages - we do try and offer good value for money with these breaks and our garden facing rooms really are worth paying that little bit extra for, espeically coming into spring and summer. I really do appreciate your kind words and look forward to welcoming you back in the future.
Once again many thanks.
Kind regards

Had two nights B$B in this atmospheric hotel, very cosy and comfortable, excellent bar food, and friendly staff. We appreciated the residents' lounge with its sofas and real fire. It makes a real change from a modern, bland chain hotel, and we would definitely stay again.

We were won over with the look of the place from the outside - grand hotel in a small Scottish village - we thought we'd found a great hotel at a bargain price.
The problem is once you go inside this place you realise it's not been looked after for many many years.

Room issues:
- Hallway light did not work (had to find bedroom in the dark)
- No lock on the inside of door of room (just had to hope they didn't accidentally walk in on us!)
- All the carpets in room and hallways were really past it - looked like they hadn't been cleaned in years.
- The TV was at least 25 years old, a big style TV that only got snow filled pictures.
- Room was freezing, just had one electric heater in the corner of the room, no central heating or aircon.

We also paid £21.99 each for a three course meal at the very grand restaurant. This was a huge mistake! The grand restaurant also doubles up as a side entrance to the pub, so we got to sit and watch as people wandered through the restaurant going to/from the pub.
The food was also terrible, I ordered the roast lamb, however what arrived was a few slices of meat covered thick in a brown sauce. The desert of apple pie was clearly shop bought and all the starters seemed to be deep fried.

We then went down for breakfast at 8am the next day, on a Sunday, where breakfast is only served between 8am - 9.30am and had to wait as the food was not yet ready for 15 mins. We were told that we had already been allocated a table (everyone must sit at the same table always!) so we could not choose one by the window even though the hallway was near empty.

Overall a really disappointing stay. The staff were friendly, but you got a sense they were not aware of how bad the place was, and they were not being told to carry out the basic check you would expect in a hotel (lights work, carpets are clean etc.)

Room Tip: Make sure it's not near the pub - this has music until late and will stop you sleeping.

Thank you for posting a review and we are very disappointed that you did not have an enjoyable stay. We are unsure why the hallway light was off but, as is sometimes the case, a guest or child has most likely accidentally switched it off. We do carry out regular checks but we also have to rely on guests informing us when things like this happen. Whilst we are aware that some bedrooms and corridors are in need of upgrading (as we are doing at the moment) I can assure you that we do take cleanliness very seriously and all areas of the hotel are cleaned daily. All bedroom doors have locks that can be locked from both the outside and inside and we are expecting a delivery of new flat screen TV's in the very near future. I am sorry you did not enjoy dinner with us and unfortunately it is very difficult to stop people going to the bar via the hotel dining room but this does not normally cause our guests any problems. I am pleased you noted our friendly staff and, as such, we only wish you had mentioned your concerns and problems during your stay as we would have done our utmost to fix them. Best wishes.

Stayed a couple of nights in the Nethybridge Hotel for £25/night including a full Scottish breakfast.
The building is impressive from the outside and clean and tidy on the inside, albeit a little dated (full of character you might say). Staff were friendly and helpful as were the locals in the bar, great atmosphere and great bar food.

20 minutes to Cairngorm/Aviemore and 45 minutes to The Lecht for snowboarding or mountain biking. Looking forward to going back.
