“Character, warmth and fantastic service”
Reviewed 22 June 2010

Having spent three weeks in Argentina on honeymoon if I could pick one place to be whisked back across the Atlantic to for just a few more days this would be it...

Despite hours poring over reviews we couldn't decide between here and Club Tapiz so stayed 2 nights in Tapiz and 3 here - Finca was head and shoulders above Tapiz (also more expensive however in full season - we had half price accommodation as was off peak)

We stayed in a suite; it was by the pool and had a huge window looking onto the gardens, a a sumptuous king bed as well as a sitting area with a fireplace - gorgeous! All the touches were there - high quality bedlinen, great power in the shower, conditioner, good hairdryer, complimentary water, turndown etc..
The overall feeling here is not of an annonymous hotel but a welcoming home from home. It was very personal and yet we felt totally at ease; not claustrophobic. "Black Cat" (that's his name!) is very friendly and will curl up with you by the pool given less than half a chance - it's that kind of place. Heart warming. Staff were extremely accommodating - and we had a few changes to our plans..

What To do?
- Wineries! obvious things first
- The winery building in the grounds is a cosy welcoming place - complimentary bottle of Malbec (really good) the first night and divine cheese plate (you could eat here and not go out for dinner)
- Mendoza is a great activity/adventure destination; head into the Andes..
Having visited the wineries we went with Argentina Rafting (organised by hotel) white water rafting on the Mendoza river (on the tamer side in May, apparently crazy in Dec!) In the afternoon we did the zip lining tour which included two REALLY long cables across the river- brilliant if a little scary!
Our appetites for adrenaline whetted we went paragliding the following day (can't remember company but we left details with the hotel - VERY highly recommended from two usually cautious souls!)
- Hotel has bikes for guests for free use
- Swimming pool - not sure if the water was refrigerated! but it was remarkably clean (we did brave it followed by hot shower stat!)
- gorgeous area to lounge by the pool among the vineyards, glorious sunshine even in May
- Cookery class at the Finca - highly recommended! An evening outside by the wood fire with just us two and the lovely and very fun Christina who taught us to make empanadas and lomo (loin of beef) with chimichurri sauce over a bottle or two of the Finca's own malbec. An unexpected highlight for us.
- We had massages in our room for only US$20 each for an hour!

I'd better stop. This is a real treat. Don't go if you want bland international formality; if you want a special experience with real comfort, character, impeccable service and a smile on your face then Finca Adalgisa comes highly recommended...

Wonderful service in a beautiful setting, Finca Adalgisa was so comfortable, hospitable and welcoming. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here from the welcome bottle of wine and cheese platter to the staff who were especially helpful when our car to the airport was very, very late.. It is located in a small private vineyard and winery and is not marked so you have to know where to go! A short walk to town and near many of the vineyards.

My husband and I stayed at the Finca Adalgisa for 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. The property is amazing - the flowers, trees, vines etc. are beautiful and well groomed. The buildings, rooms, linens and common areas are perfect. They have a small wine building where they also serve simple food in the evenings. We liked to eat our big meal at lunch time and then relax in the wine building at night. We would order a bottle of the wine they produce right there on the property and get soup and a salad for dinner while reminiscing about the day. As an added bonus, there are 3 super sweet dogs on the property who will keep you company. This is a dream place!

This was my second stay in two years, and I was not disappointed upon return, when I brought my husband and two grown sons. The charm and service of the Finca A. are unsurpassed, and the staff will cheerfully arrange ANYthing for you, without ever betraying frustration (at our changing plans!). I do have a few complaints: our king sized bed in a suite was too hard--they need a softer mattress pad or better matress for us middle-aged travelers; the wiring of the deposit is a pain; also, the price does seem to have climbed quite a bit. Nevertheless, I would save my money and return for a few days more of heaven at the Finca!

This is a lovely Lodge, but it is really a lodge, it does not have any of the amenities of a hotel that is charging these rates. As much as the place is well kept the rooms are spacious if you choose one o fthe little villa houses. The atmosphere is very homely and there are some lovely touches, the micro vineyard and the communal area are beautifully done, but all said and done the prices are too high.

We stayed 3 nights here and wished we had more time. We spent our first 2 nights in Mendoza (Villagio) and wished we had stayed all 5 here. The grounds are amazing, the bodega is wonderful for a casual dinner, and the customer service is outstanding. The day we checked out we had to leave at 5 AM due to an early flight, and without us even asking for it they brought us breakfast at 4:30 that morning. We had a 3 week trip in Argentina, and this was by far the best place we stayed at during our entire time.

We stayed here as part of our honeymoon in the second week of March 2010. Finca is lovely and setting is gorgeous (actually in the winery and vines itself). The small bodega serves tapas and soup plus its own great Malbec. The breakfasts were wholesome and plentiful. Our room was a bit dark, but bed very comfortable with good quality linen.

The real plus is the helpful staff who cater to your every need - offering good local suggestions for lunches/dinners and tour ideas. They organised a fantastic horseriding vineyard tour one day with a great local gaucho who spoke reasonable english (helpful!) and another day they set up appointments for us at boutique bodegas off the beaten track which we visited by bicycle. The lunch at Cavas de Como was sublime and in my top 3 all time meals, it is difficult to explain how unbelievable it was and we never would have found ourselves or in any guidebook.

We loved our stay here and wish it was a bit longer than 3 nights as we had just started to really relax by then!
