This is a great restaurant that we keep for special occasions - excellent food, conviviality, buzz. The food was spot on, the servings are generous (I could have done with two entree sizes rather than an entree and a main - certainly could not fit a dessert!), the service was engaging, friendly and prompt, in spite of the fact the restaurant was fully booked. We had pork belly, snails, sirloin, slow cooked ox cheeks - cooked to perfection. We'll be back, absolutely!

Frenchy's shows that traditional food can still be cutting edge. While the menu includes some more modern dishes they produce wonderful versions of classics such as French onion soup, duck a l'orange, and seafood bisque. The two proprietors have been there for more than a decade and the service is crisp and professional. Their charcuterie entrée is a work of art.
The wine list is comprehensive and desserts include more classics such as crème brulee. There is plenty of parking in the car park of the adjacent 'The Glen' shopping centre. Negatives ? They charge extra for bread and butter - an irritating fault. Otherwise outstanding.

We had a great night, really nice atmosphere, there is a huge table in one part of the restaurant which would be great for a big family gathering. The food was great, we had the french onion soup, chicken, duck, choc souffle and creme brulee. The servings are over generous, I would have been happy with a smaller portion. We will be returning again.

We won't be going back!

First we ordered a bottle of French red and were presented with a local wine totally different. For entree my wife ordered 1/2 dozen oysters - one of which was off. My pork belly and scallops entree was good - until I ate the undercooked scallops (and it is hard to undercook a scallop).

Hoping the mains would redeem them, we waited well over an hour for them to arrive. My wife's steak was well undercooked as to how it was requested and my duck confit was so overlooked as to be ridiculous. The sauce was poorly executed and the broccoli was wilted. As the waiter (who was the only redeeming feature) said somewhat amusingly, "well if they were combined it would have been cooked perfectly"

We did not tempt fate and order desert - after all we wanted to get home some time before sunrise. Unfortunately, this was not an isolated incident - the table beside us were having the same experience.

Very disappointing. I simply don't understand how some of the other reviews here can rate the food and service highly. The consistent complaints about slow service don't really prepare you for the delay. Even our waiter (a very decent person doing the best he could) told us that he was telling the kitchen they were way too slow - if not for him the experience would have been truly terrible.

Frenchy's is in the heart of 'The Glen' in Glen Waverley - an easy train ride from the City. You enter through the shopping centre but once inside, you enter a different world. It's a French bistro, here! The menu is classical French, with most of what you might expect - escargots (gorgeous and generous), pate, steak frites, canard a l'orange, veal, beef burgundy pie, and so on. Good service, good food, good time. Perhaps a touch too much salt in one or two dishes - but that's a French trait too and doesn't spoil the experience. There's an attractive wine list too, though not many wines by the glass - but you can bring your own, we observed. Oh - I forgot the chocolate souffle for desert - order it when your mains arrive!
