Our family stayed at the “Garden Cottage” on our annual ski trip! The cottage is every bit as good as it looks in photos-if not better! Set quite literally a stone’s throw from one of New Zealand’s most iconic and most beautiful churches and on the banks of Lake Tekapo-you could not want for a more perfect and prominent location. The blue of Lake Tekapo is stunning-the most pure azure blue you can imagine and this is what you can see from almost every window as you stay in this quaint cottage. The cottage itself is home from home-beautifully decorated –in an almost olde worlde English way. And everything you could want for inside-right down to every piece of kitchen equipment imaginable.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a lovely review.
We were so delighted to welcome you and your family to our little paradise by the lake. Especially Garden Cottage... It means a lot to us to see such a great family having the best time in one of our properties. It makes it so special and memorable for all of us, including Pippy! :-)

Don't be a stranger and see you next year!!!
Best wishes,

i stayed in the garden studio (ground floor unit). we were the only tenants at the time so it was like the entire area was reserved for us. the location was great! it was right next to lake tekapo and one has a great view of the cathedral of the good shepard in the mornings. i loved the hot chocolate n coffee powder in the room. the toilets were huge with their own heater! i had 2 beds in my room even though we only needed 1. this place is great if u have a family travelling with u. it has everything in the kitchen u need for cooking. overall great value!!

Room Tip: Rooms get booked fast during the busy months! try to travel off peak!

Thank you so much for such a great review!

Delighted you enjoyed your stay at Parkbrae and in the Garden Studio! It si such a lovely unit! Very cosy and warm. You are correct regarding busy times. Best to book in advance or take advantage of the shoulder season as it is quieter. May is a beautiful time of the year to travel through Tekapo as the Autumn colors are just picture perfect!

Don't forget to visit us again!

The idyllic Garden Cottage was like a house out of a fairy-tale. Everything felt so unreal. Consisting of 4 rooms (can sleep 7), 2 bathrooms, a kitchen, and a living room complete with fireplace, the cottage was spacious and amazing. Every room was also well maintained and comfortable, and the bathrooms and kitchen were well stocked. Fantastic attention to detail especially in their bedrooms. It made the whole stay felt so homely. We also had great fun warming ourselves by the fireplace, while reading various books from the mini-library in the living room. Enjoying the picturesque landscape and awe-inspiring scenery from the couch made everything felt so surreal for city dwellers like us.

The cottage provided a great view of lake Tekapo, and also provided easy access to the historic church, being around a minutes' walk away. At the same time, appreciate the privacy the cottage provides despite being close to the church.

There is simply too much to rave about that you really need to experience it for yourself :)

Not to forget, the unexpected snow fall that was an awesome surprise to end our stay in Tekapo! We will wanna be back, again! It's our third time here! =}}

We were a group of 8 couples and stayed 2 nights in the 'Bush house', 'Garden Tower' and Opera House. The Bush house would be my preference. It lacks views but is modern and spacious - good for 2 couples. The Opera house was our 'party house' with fantastic views and lots of space on the top floor. We were able to fit all 16 in here for a BBQ. The Garden Tower has views from the second and top floors. Although a bit dated we found it very comfortable and would certainly recommend.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write your lovely review.

Delighted you had a great time at Parkbrae and were able to fit all 16 of you in the Opera House. Best views of the lake, no doubt! Our location is the best as we are just opposite to the Church of Good Shepherd and all our houses have great views except Bush as it's landscaped within a stunning native garden!

We hope you had a wonderful in New Zealand and especially lake Tekapo!
Do keep us in mind on your next visit.

We selected this accommodation based on location and the reviews we had found here. We were not disappointed! The location and the views from here make it an absolutely fabulous choice in Lake Tekapo accomodation. We had two nights in the top floor of the Garden Tower and will be back, hopefully to see this beautiful spot in winter!

Parkbrae is the closest accommodation to the famous Church, perfect spot on the lake and still easy walking distance from town Although the accomodation may appear to some a little dated in appearance, it well served our purposes and had a lovely charm. The hosts were lovely and the gardens beautiful. Patricia was knowledgable and happy to share about what to do in the area. Pippi is also gorgeous!

We had two nights in the top floor of the Garden Tower at Parkbrae Estate and will be back as soon as we can - hopefully to see this amazing area in winter.

Room Tip: The most amazing location!

Hopefully that can be arranged next time; we'll see if we can pull a few strings ;-)

My mum and I stayed in the quaint and very cosy garden cottage and we absolutely adored the views. The service was outstanding with friendly smiles, extremely helpful and did us both the very kind service of taking our luggage to the bus depot (as there are no taxis in town). Located just a short walk into town and right next to the church of the good Shepard, it's ideally peaceful and scenic. We are very glad we did not stay in a motel and we will be back here for sure!! Highly recommended. Shane and Dallas, Melbourne, Australia.

This review is specific to the Garden Tower; we stayed in the upper two floors. It needs a good Spring cleaning (cobwebs in the upper rafters) and mainly a makeover. The microwave is antiquated and most of the coffee cups have seen better days. We noticed some slight damage on the outside railing as well as a trim piece on the kitchen island.

We were also a bit troubled by the number of signs posted everywhere about not taking dishes, cleaning them prior to departure, etc. It is a shame that someone was rude enough to ever steal dishes, but at the same time, it doesn't seem entirely necessary to post signs everywhere for clientele who paid what we pre-paid to stay there.

To be fair, I don't want this to be a negative review, but a constructive one. It was infinitely quiet, and we did sleep well. The view is sublime, and the gardens are beautiful. We didn't get to meet Patricia (we arrived after the office closed), but she was extremely helpful over the phone when we needed it.

A little bit would go a long way to restoring the tower and making it a more lovely stay.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write your constructive review.
We appreciate and welcome all opinions as it is the only we improve our service and are aware of certain maintenance issues which might escape our eye.
Coincidentally, we had a spring clean schedule for the next day which absorbed 3 hours of labor.
We do try to keep on top of most issues and apologize if standard wasn't reflected.
We hope to meet your expectations next time you come to visit.
Best wishes,
Patricia
