The day we came it was bit cold and wet but despite this the hotel and its beautiful location made up for it.. I think nearly every room in the hotel has a great view without having to walk further than the balcony. The owners are a friendly couple who checked us in quickly and showed us to the room. The rooms have all the mod-cons needed if self catering, but still there is several restaurants / cafes round the corner if you want to eat out. Round the corner as well is a local small supermarket, has everything you need though a little expensive. The room was very tidy and well cleaned / maintained and has a very good heater which of course is needed in the winter months. There is ample parking which is easy to drive in and out of .I would totally recommend staying here to anyone.

We landed up there without a reservation because we had to change our itinerary and routing due to weather conditions.
The staff / managers were extremely friendly and helpful and gave showed us a couple of rooms to enable us to make a choice. As a family of 3 adults (parents and 18 year old son) we opted for the two bedroom unit with a small dining area and kitchenette.
The hotel itself has two sides - on one side are the single rooms that face the lake and on the other side are the two room units that do not directly offer lake views.
Rooms are fairly good though they need to be modernised. The heating and other amenities were functional and good.
The bathroom was large - probably because our unit was built for use by disabled persons also.
Parking is available on site and around the hotel.
The lake is a short walk from the hotel.
There are several restaurants and a supermarket within easy walking distance from the hotel.

Room Tip: For couples the rooms with a view of the lake would be suitable.

This is our second stay at Lake Tekapo Scenic Resort, we enjoyed it so much last year that we returned!
This time we stayed in the Executive Upstairs Family Unit which had a bedroom, a separate lounge/tv/single bedroom and third area containing the kitchenette and dining area. The kitchenette had a large fridge, stovetop and microwave. The view from the room was stunning- unimpeded postcard-worthy panorama of the lake and mountains. There is a laundry onsite -$3 each for washer and dryer use. The 4 square supermarket is a few metres away for supplies. Its worth doing the trip around the lake up to the Mt John Observatory (a 2hr return trip if running). The staff were again friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Room 1 upstairs has the best view

The staff is really friendly and very helpful. The hotel room is nice and clean, you will have all the beautiful mountain view even when you lay down in the bed. I definitely will recommend this hotel to my friends.

We stayed one night at Lake Tekapo Scenic Resort for our drive from Christchurch to Queenstown. Upon our arrival, we received very warm welcome from the owner Don and manager Wayne. They were very helpful and friendly. The postcard view from our studio unit upstairs was simply STUNNING! It was so lovely to have a glass of wine on the balcony to soak in the tranquility and beauty of Lake Tekapo, the snow-capped mountains and the Church of Good Shepard. I think the units upstairs have better view. The unit itself is very clean and comfortable. The restaurants, cafes and a small super market are all within walking distance (less than 5 mins walk). Highly recommend this place.
