We were warmly welcomed by Richard. When we were ready we were served tea and coffee in the lovely lounge where the log fire was on....It was really cosy...

Even though we decided to have dinner there late...it was no problem and it was delicious....so was the breakfast.....So much to choose from amazing.....
...Before and after dinner Richard and Maggie asked if we fancied joining them for a glass of wine around the table in the kitchen together with the 2 other B&B guests that were staying there ...Great idea and we had such a wonderful time....

We really enjoyed our time at the Barn...Nothing is too much for Richard and Maggie and we are definitely coming back..The best B&B experience we have ever had....Thank you so much for being such hospitable hosts and so generous with your lovely food.... :-) :-)

This was the first B&B we stayed in in Scotland, so it was a delight to find such a gem in such a remote location. This proved to be a bonus as it was a perfect introduction to all the wonderful things Scotland has to offer. Our hosts were so welcoming and provided us with everything we needed. A unique and memorable experience

This was our first B&B in Scotland - our first on the isles. And it has stayed my favourite, for many reasons. It is off the beaten track - as another reviewer notes, the 20 minutes drive in on a winding little road that curves through forest and over hills and then around a hidden loch is in itself a total delight. You leave the world and all its cares behind as you weave through this magical landscape of loch and mountain. At the barn, Richard and Maggie are always there to greet you and offer a welcoming cup of tea. Breakfast is served in a magnificent wood-pannelled dining room, and the sitting room with its pitched ceiling and splendid open fire is equally handsome - replete with a marvellously eclectic selection of antiques, family photographs, books and information about the island. The bedrooms have the feel of guest bedrooms in a friend's house and have all comforts to hand - indeed, the overall feeling is that you have landed on the door of friend, who happen to live at the end of a gorgeous loch, and who are pleased that you have come to see for yourself the wonders of where they live. We also had dinner at Barrachandrom on our first night, having arrived late and knowing we would not want to hop back in the car after a long trip to find sustenance elsewhere. As noted elsewhere on these pages, breakfast is very good indeed and we can recommend dinner as well. Richard and Maggie could not have been more welcoming, and went out of their way to make our stay memorable. The Isle of Mull is a magical place, and Barrachandrom weaves you deeply into the spell of the island. When I remember Scotland, I always remember Barrachandrom, as it captures the essence of what hospitality and natural beauty on the islands and highlands are all about.

I was taken to this B&B as my 60th birthday surprise.
The accomodation was very traditional, with large bedrooms, huge livingroom with a roaring fire and diningroom,.
Our hosts Richard and Maggie were extremely hospitable, allowing us full acces to their home and as a final suprise to me, my children came along too. We were all well catered for from 6 months to 60.

The breakfast was of a very high standard and were a very large range of traditional Scottish fayre, including smokked Haddock and Lock Fynne kippers, and excellent porridge each day. I would reccomend this B&B without hessitaion and intend to visit again.

Stunning location with lots of wildlife, eagles and roaming deer herds. We were not able to see any Otters this time, but hopefully on our next visit.

Room Tip: All the room are good, two double bedrooms and one with two single beds.

This b&b is well off the beaten track. The setting is gorgeous, getting there a delight (20 min. drive from the main road). The hearty welcome seemed promising, but communication rather dwindled the next couple of mornings. In every b&b we had nice chats with our hosts but not here... Maybe they weren't in the mood? Most ingredients of our copious breakfasts were cooked the night before or at least they seemed to be... I would have preferred smaller portions of better quality. The room we slept in was neither big nor small and completely pink (not my style but funny nevertheless), but I didn't appreciate it to be so ill-kept. Cobwebs by the windows, moldy curtains. We had a bathroom without a shower, so make sure you ask for another room if you don't want just a bath. There are no ensuite rooms however. Our room wasn't heated in summer although it was rather cold I had to put on two fleeces to be able to read in bed). What does make up for these inconveniences it the grand and lovely sitting room with fireplace upstairs. If you arrive in the evening you're always offered a cup of tea right away.

We have stayed at Barrachandroman 3 or 4 times now, both bed and breakfast and self catering. We returned this September for a 3 night stay at the bed and breakfast and thought it was time I write a trip advisor review about what we can only describe as one of the best bed and breakfasts in Scotland. Richard and Maggie are both very welcoming, with nothing too much trouble. The bed and breakfast is located in one of the most stunning locations on the isle of mull, Lochbuie, and is the perfect scottish getaway, at the end of a loch and surrounded by mountains, what more could you want? Roaring fires? The sitting room at Barrachandroman with its pitched ceiling and roaring open fire and views out to the mountains is a beautiful way to pass by a few hours after a long days walking or touring the delights of mull. The bedrooms are decorated in a beautiful timeless style, filled with colour and the facilities are excellent with everything provided for.
However what we love most about this bed and breakfast is the legendary breakfasts! Richard and Maggie provide an extensive breakfast menu, with lots of options to suit everybody, and the breakfasts are out of this world! Real good home cooked food served in a pannelled dining room, it is one of the reasons (as well as the excellent hospitality and beautiful locations) that we return again and again! The best cooked breakfast we have ever had!
Overall, Barrachandroman is a must if you are anywhere near the western isles! It certainly made our honeymoon special, and there are no two people who work harder at making sure their guests have a wonderful and memorable holiday than Richard and Maggie, thanks!

This was the second time we have stayed with Richard & Maggie. What a delightful location and what a wonderful welcome! We had to make this booking (just for 2 nights) at relatively short notice and we had the extra of having a baby (Timneh African Grey) parrot which Maggie was happy to look after while we were out for a long day trip with Sealife Surveys.
Going back to the welcome: Barrachandroman is in a relatively isolated beautiful location - the first time we visited was in the very cold February of 2010 - to see the lights in the windows of what turned out to be the residents lounge, together with the gentle column of smoke rising from the chimney of the said lounge was just a magical sight in the twilight as we drove along the edge of the Loch (one that incidentally accommodates quite a few otters!!). To arrive and be greeted by Richard as we opened our car doors is a nice extra touch - and immediately followed by the offer of a welcoming cuppa - ideal.
Richard & Maggie are really nice people and very accommodating - watch out for the breakfast though because you can easily over order and have piles of great food that may slow you down as it did us the first time - we learned to moderate our selection after the first time
