Very attentive but not overbearing staff and good tracking of customers from drinks to table. Interesting menu but disappointing in delivery. The rabbit was like KFC and served with a bit pile of coleslaw and my wood pigeon was rare/raw and had to be sent back. The cocktails were delicious and the wine selection good with a chance to try before choosing. However the table was too close to others (we overheard the couple next to us complaining about their meal to staff) and the chairs were very uncomfortable especially on the back. London prices and style.

Found this restaurant in a Bath magazine. About 17 mins from the centre of Bath and in a nice country location. Lovely reconverted house that has been redesigned with good taste and style. We dined in the lovely conservatory areavand found the young staff to be most friendly : on talking to them they are very proud to work there and it shows in their enthusiasm throughout. Some of the food is from the vegetable garden , where Nicky gave us a guided tour after our meal .How the gardeners have managed to avoid the slugs/snails is a wonder. The food was excellent in taste and presentation. A huge wine list that caters to all . We look forward to an early return.

Second visit, this time for lunch to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Once again everything was impeccable and the complimentary glass of bubbles & piggy bits were very much appreciated - thank you! :) Looking forward to returning very soon!

P.S highly recommend Pensford Taxi company who will chauffeur you around in a rather plush Chrysler!

A converted big house, which does look (to me) a little grey and institutional from the approach. It is really more near Bristol than Bath, but Bath sounds better. The large car park was completely full when we arrived, possibly thanks to a business meeting taking place; the meeting didn’t disrupt service that we noticed. The kitchen gardens are extensive, and a speciality of the house is to make extensive use of their own produce. Service was both friendly and helpful. I had a delicious goat cheese and tomato salad, and a Bath chap, which had me sedated for the rest of the day! I’d say that this is worth staying for the day and a night, given the opportunity - but try to avoid any conferences. We are there on a beautiful warm and sunny day, which really showed up the dining space to best effect - an indoors room, which was empty in this weather, leading to a greenhouse that was both well ventilated and provided with blinds, opening onto some outdoor tables. Ideal for the weather.

Really lovey evening the surroundings and setting were just perfect for one of our rare warm summer evenings. We were in the conservatory part of the restaurant which was really lovely. Lots of pots with herbs and a kind of shabby chic smart look and feel which absolutely suits the grand old Hunstrete house itself. We were looking out at the beautiful countryside with patio and lush green lawned garden. Some young girls were playing croquet . There were also tables outside should you chose to eat, or have your coffee and liqueurs outside. We were served some beautiful bread (mine was gluten free and very good as gluten free goes) with the most amazing olive oil for dipping which had thyme and bayleaf that I could see inside. The flavour was superb. Must ask next time if they sell it, believe it was home made. Our starters were the cured meats and home smoke salmon, served with a sweetish dressed sliced fennel on top, delicious. Our mains were very good too rump of lamb and pork loin. I had chips instead of the pearl barley hash that was part of the pork dish in case of gluten. (Which they were happy to oblige) The staff were a very up beat crew and happy to answer any questions or requests always with a smile. This made the whole experience perfect. Will definitely go again and recommend to friends. It's so wonderful to see this beautiful building come back to life. It's had various owners over the past years. This new owners seem to be.the perfect fit to bring this delightful building back into the limelight again.!
