“Good place for a night halt”
Reviewed 8 April 2014

this place is recommended to spend one night stay as it is away from the the Gokarna temple located on the highway. The amenities are very basic and one can stay with their family for night halt and next day visit to Gokarna temple. Food is tasty and very low price.Room was clean and spacious. we enjoyed our stay at this place.

Room Tip: recommendation to stay for 01 Night as there is no other facility available

This place is about 3 to 4 kms from Gokarna Railway Station. We stayed there overnight in Non-AC room and it was very comfortable, peaceful and spacious with lots of greenery. Toilet was also very neat and clean. Hot water whenever you need. The manager, Mr. Balkrishna and other staff was very helpful. He arranged a cab for us to pick up from Gokarna railway station and next day for sightseeing. We had breakfast and dinner in Makara Village and food was very good both veg & non-veg.

Its a very good place to stay. The prices were also very reasonable. You can enjoy thise place with your family. Gokarna is an excellent tourist spot.

Located bang on the NH 17, its a good place for an overnight halt. The rooms are spacious but lack appropriate furniture. The beds are uncomfortable as far as the sizes are concerned. The rooms open out into the lawns where one can enjoy a nice quiet meal or even the morning tea !

The entire Staff and The Manager is simple, good & courteous.

Food gets a big thumbs down, as I am a foodie......Breakfast (Mangalore buns are a definitely worth a try, once) But the operators need to work hard on getting the taste right for all the Menu items.

We stayed overnight in this place when driving from Mangalore. We chose non-AC - and really liked the room, . It was clean and the toilet was also clean. Spacious too.

The flush however did not work which was annoying and the food was average. The cottages are amidst greenery and one can enjoy tea sitting outside the room. [ Need extra chairs though !!! ]. Hot water is solar heated. There is a play area for kids and the staff is very friendly.

So all in all - a hotel I would not mind revisiting.

Many years this is my choice for lunch on the way to Kumta, this year we have decided to stay few days overnight with my wife. Rooms are clean and comfortable, depending on a season I recommend AC. Clean bathroom, western toilet and working TV are enough. Staff except managers are rather simple but helpfull, gardens around rooms are taken care of and make nice atmosphere outside. Restaurant offer is simple, compared hotels and restaurants in Gokarna and surrounding beaches, but taste, quantity and speed of service are main assets here. Value for money is max. Recommending to all who are traveling on highway and are looking for a nice place to rest. For these visiting Gokarna, it is located about 10-15km from Gokarna main beach...

Room Tip: All rooms are same, only varies with AC.

We have stayed two weeks back in Makara Village.
We booked room through their website. This place is about 10 kms from the beach, but SRS travel will provide you drop at hiregutti in front of hotel(Everyone knows about this hotel location).
The Manager was very helpful and courteous.Beside stay he also arranged all sightseeing cab.We ordered morning breakfast to our room on both days. food was good especially Mysore bun. We also had our dinner in their restaurant(Please try any fish with rava fry).
Room was nice and specious. All basic amenities was provided by them.I would suggest this hotel to others who is gonna visit Gokarna. It is worth for money.
Best place to stay for couples.

Went to Gokarna with family for 3D/ 2N and we decided to stay at Makara Village Resort (MVR) based on the tripadvisor reviews. The resort provided a free pick up from Gokarna Road railway station but I wish they sent a better car, since the Omni-E they sent for us was smelling of Gasoline. We were at MVR in 30min and it's located on a highway. We checked in at 2PM, everyone liked the rooms instantly as they were spacious, well ventilated with green surroundings just like in pictures. However, the minute we saw the bathrooms we were disappointed as there were so many dead cockroaches lying around and the stink as if the sewage pipe broke-down.

We ordered tea and lunch which arrived in a impressive 15min time, but the plates, spoons, tea cups and flasks were so dirty, we suggested they bring tea for us in a different flask. We used the recyclable paper plates and cups we carried with ourselves (thank God). Same was the scene at dinner time, we ordered food with the resort and ate in our plates.

The next day morning we called for room service and a lady came with a broom hardly gave the floor a sweep and we complained about the bathrooms stinking and she poured what we saw, half a bottle of phenol, flushed and left. We called up the manager and we got no improvement except the apologies.

The resort had a kind and hospitable feel, it had a very good location but I would have felt really glad if there was better hygiene in the food utensils they served and cleaner bathrooms.

Room Tip: May be you should carry some naphthalene balls or Odonil to keep the stink away. And good hand sanit...
